Specific details about the first network test for Elden Ring Nightreign have dropped, revealing that players will only have a short window to experience the upcoming game. Those who are a part of the game’s network test will have three hours to enjoy Nightreign each day, news that will likely disappoint those who were hoping to grind. Applications for the network test for Elden Ring Nightreign are now open, with anticipation for the new game continuing to build since it was first announced.
FromSoftware began 2022 on the right foot, dropping what has perhaps become one of the world’s biggest and most successful video games of all time, Elden Ring. Mixing the gameplay systems and overall style of its previous games, its developers managed to also create something entirely new, with Elden Ring taking players on an epic open-world journey unlike anything seen previously from the studio. The game went on to win numerous awards and smash sales records, with the hype for Elden Ring arguably being even higher than it was when it first launched. This is due in large part to the game’s upcoming spinoff, Elden Ring Nightreign, which players will soon be able to get their hands on.

For Elden Ring Nightreign to Work, FromSoftware May Need to Embrace Some of Its More Controversial Boss Designs
Elden Ring Nightreign could be the perfect venue for FromSoftware to lean into its more heavily despised boss design elements.
Applications for Nightreign‘s network test opened on January 10, with the test itself going live in February. However, those hoping to really sink some serious time in the game are out of luck, with Nightreign limiting players to just three hours a day. Those who want to join in the test can do so by visiting the official FromSoftware website, but only Xbox and PlayStation consoles will be supported. PC players are essentially out of luck during this time, though Nightreign will be available for the platform when the game officially releases.
Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test Limits Players to 3 Hours a Day
“The network test is a preliminary verification test in which the selected testers play a portion of the game prior to the full game launch,” the website states. “Various technical verifications of online systems will be examined by conducting large-scale network load tests.” The announcement of a new Elden Ring title came as a very big but welcome surprise for many. Developers claimed there were no plans to build a sequel or more DLC for Elden Ring after Shadow of the Erdtree. This massive expansion dropped last summer and proved to breathe new life into the already-blazing fire that is Elden Ring. However, Nightreign was officially revealed at The Video Game Awards 2024, marking one of the biggest announcements to come out of the event.
While building significantly off of Elden Ring‘s framework, Nightreign will bring a notable shift in design philosophy for FromSoftware. Not only will co-op be the primary focus, but Elden Ring Nightreign will feature roguelike elements, such as randomly generated encounters. The game does not yet have a release date, but given a network test is being held, fans are bound to hear more about Elden Ring Nightreign very soon.
