Elden Ring: How To Activate Morgott And Mohg Great Runes
As players progress through Elden Ring, they’ll come up against some truly challenging bosses in the form of Demi-Gods. These storyline (and optional in some cases) big bads will test players’ skills and reward them by dropping Great Runes, specialized items that can then be activated to use alongside Rune Arcs for a powerful boost to a variety of things.

Unfortunately, getting the Great Rune from a Demi-God is only one part of its activation. Those looking to activate every Great Rune will have to discover the corresponding Divine Towers sprinkled across the Lands Between. Some of them are much easier to find than others, and one, in particular, holds the Great Rune activation spot for two Demi-Gods; Morgott and Mohg. Here’s how players can get to the location and activate the powerful runes for these bosses after they defeat them in Elden Ring.
Updated October 28, 2024 by Erik Petrovich: When it comes to how to activate the Morgott and Mohg Great Runes, Elden Ring players are in luck: it’s actually the same spot. What isn’t quite so simple is making sure to head to the right boss location to get both Mohg and Morgott’s Great Runes. These two Omen brothers have several locations throughout the game, but only one of their fights actually yields each boss’ Great Rune when defeated. This guide has been updated with some more detailed information about how to get to Mohg and Morgott’s locations in Elden Ring, as well as some details on the Divine Tower of East Altus and the effects of each Rune.
Where To Find Morgott And Mohg In Elden Ring
Morgott & Mohg Locations
The first step in activating the runes for these two Demi-Gods is to unlock them by defeating the bosses themselves. This is easier said than done as Morgott and Mohg are both rather powerful and exceedingly difficult for some players.
Though you can fight Morgott and Mohg in different forms in several areas in the game, their “real” fights take place at the end of lengthy legacy dungeon zones. Here’s where to find Morgott and Mohg’s real locations in Elden Ring.
Morgott, The Omen King Location
There are three different versions of Morgott in Elden Ring: one can be found at the entrance to Stormveil Castle, one is located in the outer wall of Leyndell, and one is found at foot of the Erdtree, at the end of Leyndell itself.
The first two are actually projections of Morgott (going under the guise of Margit the Fell), and do not drop his Great Rune. The real Morgott the Omen King can only be found at the end of the Leyndell, Royal Capital legacy dungeon.

Elden Ring: General Radahn Roleplay Build Guide
General Radahn is one of Elden Ring’s fan favorite bosses, and roleplaying as the Starscourge is only a matter of getting armor and allocating stats.
It’s quite the long and perilous journey to traverse the difficult Leyndell, Royal Capital after players have entered the city’s walls. Once you make it to the West Capital Rampart Site of Grace, exit a door to the Southwest and hop down to the right, onto an old horse stable.
From there, they can climb the massive Erdtree root ahead of them and wind along its path until coming to a balcony and a waiting boss door. Here, players will need to face the ghost of the First Elden Lord, Godfrey. After defeating the boss, they can move up to the Queen’s Bedchamber Site of Grace and then up the long stairs from there to face Morgott, The Omen King.
Mohg, Lord of Blood Location
There are two different Mohgs in Elden Ring: one can be found below Leyndell, in the Shunning Grounds barring a secret entrance to the Deeproot Depths, and one can be found atop Mohgwyn Palace, an endgame area devoted to the Formless Mother and the Mohgwyn Dynasty. The Shunning Grounds version of Mohg is actually a Shade, while the real version – the one that drops Mohg’s Great Rune – is found in Mohgwyn Palace.
Getting to Mohg is a bit more convoluted than getting to Morgott as players will need to enter and get through Mohgwyn Palace, which is a notoriously punishing zone that’s relatively hidden. Players can either progress White-Faced Varre’s quest and use the Pureblood Knight’s Medal to instantly teleport there, or use a Waygate in the Consecrated Snowfield, located Northwest of Yelough Anix Ruins.
Once players have made it to Mohgwyn Palace, they’ll want to progress upward until they find the Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint Site Of Grace. From there, it’s a short journey up the staircase and to the right to ride a large elevator up to where Mohg’s boss room is.
How To Activate Morgott’s And Mohg’s Great Runes In Elden Ring
The Divine Tower of East Altus Location
Morgott and Mohg, being brothers born of Omen blood, have Great Runes that can both be activated at the same location: the Divine Tower of East Altus.
Once players have both Morgott’s and Mohg’s Great Runes, head to Leyndell, Royal Capital, and progress until you find the elevator that leads to the Forbidden Lands (towards the Grand Lift of Rold). If players ride this elevator up and look to the right instead of progressing out the door and into the snowy zone, they’ll notice a large bridge extending towards a massive tower.
Players will need to be careful as they progress across the bridge toward the tower as they’ll be trapped in a dark arena by twin bosses, the Fell Twins. The arena for this boss fight is reminiscent of the Four Kings fight from Dark Souls, being an inky black void where you can only see your enemies and nothing else, but the fight is not particularly tough.

Once defeated, players can then enter the Divine Tower of East Altus and use the elevator to reach the top. There, they will find the Great Rune activation spots for both Morgott’s and Mohg’s Great Runes side by side.
What Do Mohg’s And Morgott’s Great Runes Do?
Once players have activated these runes, they can sit at any Site of Grace and choose to equip them, in which they will become active whenever players use a Rune Arc.
- Using Mohg’s Great Rune will apply the Blessing of Blood to any of the player’s summoned Spirit Ashes. This blessing causes them to gain a damage buff whenever Bloodloss is inflicted on an enemy in the vicinity and any enemy they kill near the player will heal the player for 10 percent of their maximum health.
- Morgott’s Great Rune is a bit more straightforward. It will greatly buff a player’s health, by a multiplicative of 25 percent. What’s even better is that this effect can even take place after players have used buffs and talismans to gain additional health, making the effect even stronger.
