EA Sports UFC 5 developer EA Vancouver confirms a new update will be released on January 30, adding UFC Flyweight Asu Almabayev to the game’s roster. The new EA Sports UFC 5 update will be available to download on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S after some short server downtime, with a handful of new bug fixes also included in the patch as well as some fresh alter egos for players to get their hands on from next week.
The latest entry in EA’s mixed martial arts fighting game was released back in 2023, which means patch updates and general support for the title is now beginning to slow down. There are currently rumors circulating that EA Vancouver is now hard at work on EA Sports UFC 6, with the studio reportedly aiming for a full release later this year. While these rumors have yet to be verified, EA Vancouver is still continuing to release occasional updates for EA Sports UFC 5, with the latest patch once again adding a new fighter for players to use.

EA Vancouver has confirmed that the next update for EA Sports UFC 5 will be released on January 30 at 1 PM ET. Patch 1.19 will be available to download and install on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the game’s servers will be offline for one hour prior to the release of the patch. According to the official patch notes, which can be found further down this article, the newest update will add UFC Flyweight fighter Asu Almabayev to the game. The 31-year-old mixed martial artist holds an impressive record of 21 wins and 2 losses, with 4 of those wins being within the UFC. Almabayev’s addition to EA Sports UFC 5 comes just one month before the fighter’s next bout, which will be against Allan Nascimento on March 1.
The January 30 update comes not long after EA Sports UFC 5‘s addition to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and will also make a handful of important bug fixes. EA Vancouver says patch 1.19 will fix a total of four bugs, including one that could apply an extra stamina cost to a future action when performing a muscle-modified transition, which was affecting submissions and causing an exaggerated stamina drain when denying the opponent’s fake. A handful of other improvements will also be made, such as rare clipping issues with certain clothing items and body types.
In addition to a new fighter, the developers confirm that new alter egos will be added to EA Sports UFC 5 next week. The studio has yet to confirm which fighters these alter egos will be for, so fans will simply need to wait until they appear in-game for more details. Unlike the addition of a new fighter, alter egos will need to be purchased from the in-game store if players want to equip them.
