Dragon Age: The Veilguard – How to Open the Gate of Lost Ages
As the name implies, you can go to many places from the Crossroads of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. However, the elven gods got here first, and they closed many of the paths with Blight gates.
One such path is the Gate of Lost Ages, which you can find in the Converged City area of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Walking up to the gate will give you a quest entry, but you’ll need to visit the Dock Town of Minrathous if you want to open the way.

How to Beat Quyn the Sparkwielder
You can find the Blight cyst that holds Quyn the Sparkwielder in north-central Dock Town. In the area called Andraste’s Watch, there’s a Dread Wolf statue next to a fast-travel beacon. If you interact with the statue, a slide will appear that will let you safely descend into the mining pit to the north.
Jump down the wooden platforms to reach the wolf statuette at the bottom, and look north to see Quyn’s cyst. Don’t break it open immediately, though. The mining pit has an undead infestation, and you should clear it out before challenging Quyn.
Quyn is a level 20 bosswho resists necrotic damage and is vulnerable to fire. This means you should bring Davrin (if available) and avoid bringing Lucanis. He also has Blight armor and several attack types:
- A one to three-hit melee combo.
- A lightning charge that leaves shock areas behind him.
- A six-hit lightning eruption.
- A lightning-based leap attack.
- A two-hit stone throw that spawns two darkspawn from each stone.

How To Unlock The Gates Past The Gate Of Lost Ages
The Gate of Lost Ages is northwest of the central hub of the Converged City in the Crossroads. As soon as you step through, you’ll encounter several Venatori cultists who attack you on sight. It’s unclear what they’re after, but there’s a large crystal array at the center of this area.
After you deal with the Venatori, head west along the path just to the right of the array. You should see a Veil rift to your left that you can open with Lucanis’ Spite’s Reach. This will create a platform you can use to reach a chest.
Next, take the upper path to the right of the path you just took. This leads up to the first pair of crystals you need to destroy to break the crystal array. Break them fast: the large crystal embedded in the ground will explode if you stand close to it for too long. After you break the first pair, two Venatori mages will spawn back in the central area. Deal with them right away, since they can make the next section difficult.
Head back up to where you destroyed the first two crystals, and look for another Veil breach. The platforms it creates will let you reach the second pair of crystals, plus another chest and a ladder you can activate to reach an etheric remnant deposit.
One more Spite’s Reach rift will give you platforms you can use to reach the third pair of crystals. You can also find a locked ladder in the southeast corner that connects to the main level. This means you can reach this area without using Spite’s Reach, but you can’t use the platforms to get from the third area up to the second.
Two more Venatori assassins appear after you break the third crystal pair. Deal with them, and then break the four crystals on the central array. This will open two gates but also activate the Smoldering Blood Forge beneath the array. The Forge has a lot of armor and a sweeping laser attack, but isn’t too dangerous no matter what Rook’s class is.

How To Get Every Collectible In The Gate Of Lost Ages
The gate directly south of the crystal array contains an Evanuris Altar, which you can use to increase your maximum health. You’ll find the four targets:
- Behind the large barrel on the path directly west of the altar.
- Next to a fire pit by the rock wall near the entrance to the area.
- Underneath the upper path that leads to the first pair of crystals.
- Along the rock wall directly east of the altar.
Next, take the path south and break the chain to activate another ladder. This ladder leads to a second large area full of giant snake statues, along with some tougher Venatori cultists. The cultists can draw power from a siphoning crystal at the south end of this area, so break the crystal that’s keeping the gate closed, then attack the siphoning crystal until it explodes. This will make fighting the Venatori much easier.
Once the enemies are down, check where the siphoning crystal was to pick up a Memento for the Caretaker. Next, destroy the crystals in the snake mouths, and then destroy the crystals protecting the gate to the southwest and the passage to the northwest. Don’t forget to open the small chest in the southeast corner.
Behind the gate is another Dread Wolf statue. To collect its statuette, climb the ladder behind the blocked passage and use Spite’s Reach on the Veil tear at the top. This leads to a ledge where the statuette appears. You may need to deal with a pair of Venatori magisters first.
Finally, go back up the ladder and walk to the far end of the path. The gate you opened earlier was protecting a large chest and a wolf statuette, one of the five you need for “Regrets of the Dread Wolf.” You can then exit this area by opening the door northeast of the snake statues.
