Donkey Kong Country Returns HD: Cannon Cluster Guide

As you find yourself halfway through the second world in Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, you will arrive at Cannon Cluster, a level that requires you to dodge a bunch of oncoming cannonballs from pirate ships. While you are traversing through the level, you will also need to make sure you pick up some puzzle pieces and KONG letters.

There are a total of seven puzzle pieces and 4 KONG letters in this level, with some hiding in areas you might not expect. If you are struggling to find every piece in the Cannon Cluster level, this guide will give you all the answers you need.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD: All Puzzle Pieces in Cannon Cluster

In the Cannon Cluster level in the second world, there are a total of seven puzzle pieces you must obtain. Here’s where they can be located, in order.

Puzzle Piece #1

At the very beginning of the level, use your ground pound ability on the first barrel peg that you see. This will make another peg pop up to the right, and then you will want to ground pound that one to make the original peg pop back up. The first puzzle piece will then appear.

Puzzle Piece #2

After dodging the first few cannonballs, jump onto the platform, and then the second one. In the middle, there will be a pink flower you can blow on. This will reveal the puzzle piece.

Puzzle Piece #3

Just after the second section of cannonballs, you will notice a peg on the ground in the sand. Use your ground pound ability on this, which will make a new peg appear behind you on the wooden platform. Get on top of the peg, and use it to reach the puzzle piece high up on the right.

Puzzle Piece #4

Just after the treasure chest, ground pound on the peg in front of you. Then, get on top of the peg in front of the windmill, and blow on it to lift a platform behind you. Jump on top, and use the barrel to reach the bonus room. Make sure to grab everything in the room to get the puzzle piece.

Puzzle Piece #5

In the middle of the next section of cannonballs, you will spot two cages with some crabs. Use your ground pound ability on these, and a puzzle piece will appear.

Puzzle Piece #6

Just after getting through the next section of cannonballs, you will spot a puzzle piece hidden underneath a platform. Grab the DK barrel next to the checkpoint pig, and throw it at the wall in the way. Then, jump across and grab the puzzle piece.

Puzzle Piece #7

After the second to last section of cannonballs, you will notice a barrel on the ground. Before you grab it, go ahead and defeat the crabs in front of you. Then, go back and grab the barrel. Hold onto the barrel as you navigate through the last section of cannonballs, and throw it at the wall on your right. This will take you to another bonus room that will require you to grab everything on screen to get the puzzle piece.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD: All Kong Letters in Cannon Cluster

As always, there are four KONG letters you will need to obtain in Cannon Cluster. Use this section to find them all.

Kong Letter K

Just after the first section of cannonballs, and after you grab the second puzzle piece, you’ll find the Kong letter K underneath a platform with an enemy flying just underneath it. Use your roll ability to roll towards the K letter, which will also take out the enemy, and then jump to reach the other side.

Kong Letter O

Just after the bonus room with the fourth puzzle piece, you will reach another section of cannonballs. You’ll find the O on top of a platform above a treasure chest.

Kong Letter N

Soon after you have reached the first checkpoint, jump across the moving ship pieces. Now, jump on top of the crate and make sure not to smash it. Use it to jump up and grab the letter N above.

Kong Letter G

After the second to last section of cannonballs, you’ll spot the letter G up above. Jump on top of the cages to the right, and use these to grab the G.
