Doctor Who Star Confirms Mystery Surrounding Their Character Will Be Solved In Upcoming Season

Doctor Who is eagerly anticipated to return for another thrilling season this year. One of the stars teased the audience with the promise of finally unraveling the mysteries of their enigmatic character.

Doctor Who, a beloved show with a rich history spanning over six decades, has introduced a myriad of characters. Among them, a few have stood out, sparking endless speculations about their roles. One such character made a memorable debut in the 2023 Christmas special, “The Church on Ruby Road,” and continued to captivate viewers in Season 14. Anita Dobson, who plays Mrs. Flood in Doctor Who, talked about her character in a recent interview. She acknowledged the rumors about Mrs. Flood and assured fans they would soon find answers about her mysterious persona. “By the end of this series that’s coming up now, you will find out who she is and what she’s about,” Dobson told RadioTimes. According to the Generation Z actress, many approached her to share their thoughts about her character. She admitted that some theories nearly hit the secret they’ve been hiding about Mrs. Flood. She said:

Mrs. Flood got the audience’s attention because she exhibited surprising knowledge of the TARDIS. In one scene, she even referred to it by name, broke the fourth wall, and winked at the audience. Her out-of-the-ordinary familiarity with the TARDIS sparked speculations about her true identity and intentions. One of the popular fan theories claims Mrs. Flood could be a former companion. Some fans believed she could be the Doctor’s granddaughter, Susan Foreman, because she’s familiar with the Doctor and TARDIS. There were also rumors that she could drive Ruby back to the TARDIS. Other viewers speculated that Mrs. Flood is a modern representation of the Guardian of Time due to her cryptic comments and strange ability to foresee future events. A few were also convinced she could be a villain due to her enigmatic behavior. Some claimed that she could be the Rani, a renegade Time Lord. Some associate her name “Flood” with rain and take it as an anagram for “Rani,” one of the Doctor’s nemesis. Also, in her narration in the Season 14 finale, Mrs. Flood said, “What happens to the mysterious traveler in time and space known as The Doctor? I’m sorry to say, his story ends in absolute terror” before saying, “Night, night” with a smile. And she sounded joyful while delivering the line.

There’s no doubt that one of the intriguing elements in the last season is Mrs. Flood’s identity, so it will be a relief for fans to finally find out who she is. However, based on Dobson’s statement, it would likely take many episodes before the secret would be unveiled. She said that fans would learn about her true identity “by the end” of the series. Apparently, the secret will not be laid out in the first episodes, and the viewers have to wait until probably the last episode to learn more about Mrs. Flood, why she’s knowledgeable about the TARDIS, and what her true intentions are. She could be a hero, an old companion, the Doctor’s family member, or a villain. Her true identity is definitely something to watch out for in the new season.
