- Fans have been spooked by an unsettling gift request from Pumbaa in Disney Dreamlight Valley, which saw him asking for Pulled Pork, hinting at cannibalism.
Some Disney Dreamlight Valley players have recently received downright creepy gift requests from Pumbaa. While Halloween festivities are coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley a little later than a lot of fans expected, this eerie set of requests inadvertently suggest some horrific tendencies buried in the jolly warthog’s psyche.
Disney Dreamlight Valley released its big Jungle Getaway update on October 9. The free update added Timon and Pumbaa, who join fellow The Lion King characters Simba, Nala, and Scar as member of the game’s roster of characters who can live in players’ villages. While the update also added a new rock music-themed Star Path and some additional quality-of-life features, the comedic duo from the 1994 animated film has taken center stage, as fans have been eagerly speculating for more than a year about when they would make their debut.

But some players’ Hakuna Matata was shaken after seeing a Favorite Things of the Day gift request from the warthog half of the famous duo, as it suggested possible cannibalism. Giving gifts is one of the fastest ways to make friends in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and players are able to check on the list of the three items each character wants most, which rotate daily. Multiple fans of the game on Reddit have reported that the short list of requests from Pumbaa has included Pulled Pork, a cooked dish made from a species that the friendly warthog is very closely related to.
Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Pumbaa Makes a Horrific Gift Request
Some players have pointed out that warthogs are classified as omnivores and have been known to feed on animal carcasses. However, in reality, warthogs are not hunters and only tend to feed on carrion during droughts or times of famine, generally preferring a diet that mainly consists of plants, many of which they pull from the ground using their tusks. They’re also known to eat slimy-yet-satisfying insects and worms, much like the beloved Disney character is shown to do in the movies, and a desire to cook and eat their fellow members of the pig family certainly isn’t commonplace for them.
While the implications of a cartoon warthog asking players to prepare his relatives into a meal for him are clearly not what the game’s developers intended, the creepy nature of the request does fit in with the theme of the season. Some fans were disappointed when the Jungle Getaway update didn’t include any content centered around the upcoming Halloween holiday. The valley usually plays host to Halloween-related festivities during the month of October, and while they weren’t a part of Jungle Getaway, Halloween will return to Disney Dreamlight Valley in 2024 with the third annual Trick-or-Treat event starting October 23.
