Destiny 2: Every Dungeon Final Boss, Ranked
Dungeons are some of the best endgame content for Destiny 2, and every dungeon offers unique weapons, armor, and experiences. For those Guardians brave enough to face every Dungeon in Destiny 2, they might find themselves battling against some of the fiercest foes in the Sol System, and taking them out isn’t going to be easy.

Table of Contents
These titles are earned after completing a series of triumphs that are either time-consuming or incredibly difficult for the average player.
Some final bosses in Destiny 2 Dungeons are far harder than others, and while some can be considered a one-phase pushover, others feel like they could rival the Witness itself to ensure that Fireteams wipe, time and again.
9 Dul Incaru, the Eternal Return
The Hive Wizard That Was Never Buffed, Leading to Easy One-Phase Kills
- Featured Dungeon: The Shattered Throne
- Forsaken Pack
The first final boss to grace Destiny 2 was Dul Incaru in the Shattered Throne Dungeon. As both an Ascendant Hive Wizard and the daughter of Savathun, the Witch Queen, one would expect Dul Incaru to put up a greater fight, but really she’s nothing more than a one-phase strike boss. This can be excused due to how Dungeons weren’t as developed as they are now.
Dul Incaru is easily bested simply by killing her loyal Fatesmiths. Dul Incaru is an easy kill for Guardians who know what they are doing, as she hasn’t exactly scaled in terms of power against the growing might of Guardians.
8 Zulmak, Instrument of Torment
A Hive Knight Who Desires a Throne, A Brutal Brawler For Guardians Unprepared
- Featured Dungeon: Pit of Heresy
- Shadowkeep Pack
Another agent of the Hive comes into play with Zulmak, Instrument of Torment. Zulmak was once a champion but is now a reanimated nightmare that serves the Daughters of Crota to be the newest threat to the Guardians who delve into the Scarlet Keep’s Pit of Heresy Dungeon.
Zulmak’s quest would be his undoing, and his ascension would never arise after the Guardians head down into his pit and make short work of him. All players need to do to activate Zulmak’s boss phase is place some crystals into his central arena, and then from here they can lay waste to him with easy DPS options until this undesirable prince is no more.
7 Kell Echo
A Manifestation of The Nine Who Has Guardians Run a Marathon
- Featured Dungeon: Prophecy
- Free-to-Play
The Kell Echo is a Taken, but not one from Oryx or the Darkness. Instead, the Kell Echo is a projection that has been conjured by the Nine simply as a means to show Guardians that the combination of Dark and Light can be used for the greater good. The Kell Echo might have a lesson to teach, but Guardians might kill him before he can reveal it.

Dungeons can provide players with a plethora of powerful weapons in Destiny 2 that can complement their builds.
The Kell Echo’s boss phase is a marathon, and players must chase him through teleporting phases across a long corridor absent of time and space. Those with a hard-hitting power weapon and Celestial Nighthawk will easily delete the Kell Echo in no more than two phases, and sometimes even just one.
6 Captain Avarokk, the Covetous
An Eliksni Pirate Who Hoards Traps and Treasures With a Fallen Crew
- Featured Dungeon: Grasp of Avarice
- Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack
A rogue group of Eliksni are led into a treasure trove of riches by their Fallen Captain, Captain Avarokk – a leader who hordes all the loot a Guardian could dream of. Other than petty and greedy desires for loot, Captain Avarokk doesn’t have much ambition, and his rag-tag pirate crew is a fierce competition to Guardians who delve into his caves in the Cosmodrome.
Captain Avarokk’s boss fight involves Guardians depositing Cursed Engrams into a central crystal, all while avoiding the gunfire of Avarokk and his loyal shipmate and Shank-parrot. Captain Avarokk can overwhelm solo players due to his loyal army, but a competent Fireteam will make short work of him.
5 Hefnd’s Vengeance, Blighted Chimaera
The Vengeance of an Ahamkara Who uses Scorn to Overwhelm Each Stage
- Featured Dungeon: Warlord’s Ruin
- Lightfall Dungeon Key
Taking to the harsh winters of the EDZ, players will meet their potential end with Hefnd’s Vengeance, the Blighted Chimaera that serves as the last avatar of the Ahamkara, Hefnd, who was slain during the Great Ahamkara Hunt by none other than Lord Shaxx. With an army of Scorn by its side, Hefnd is not a simple challenge.
What is simple, is activating the boss damage phase, as players must kill Broken Knights to purge corrupted totems to add to the damage timer. All the while, they need to avoid the curse given by the Corrupted Hex-Drinkers. It’s a tad chaotic, but precision damage and Dragon’s Breath will easily send this Ahamkara back to its final slumber.
4 Persys, Primordial Ruin
The Vex Wyvern Commanded by the Witness to Destroy
- Featured Dungeon: Spire of the Watcher
- The Witch Queen Dungeon Key
The Sol Divisive’s Vex Wyvern grows fat in strength from the data it consumes at the request of the Witness on Mars’ Ares Spire, this great beast can cause potential ruin. Inside the Seraph Reactor Core of the Ares Spire, Guardians will need to overload the reactor to purge Persys and create a window of attack.

With each new season and expansion of Destiny 2, the death toll rises, and Guardians have to say goodbye to some famous characters.
Activating the attack phase is a relay race of acquiring the Arctritian buff and then shooting nodes in a correct sequence, but damaging Persys is an easy task that can easily be achieved with a Well of Radiance and some stellar rockets to make this Wyvern join the Vex scrap heap.
3 Nightmare of Caital, Princess-Imperial
Calus’ Nightmare is Unrelenting With Cabal Strength
- Featured Dungeon: Duality
- The Witch Queen Dungeon Key
Return to the Derelict Leviathan, where Eris Morn can conjure the mindscape of Calus for Guardians to explore like a labyrinth. Inside, Guardians discover Nightmares unleashed, where at the center of his mind is none other than his daughter, his betrayer, Empress Caital.
This Nightmare of Caital has a lengthy process to acquiring her damage phase, as players must dunk the correct symbols into the bells and then ring them to weaken the Nightmare. Players then must shoot the correct bell in Caital’s presence to activate a damage phase, chasing her down with everything players have while Psions snipe and aggravate.
2 The Corrupted Puppeteer
An Exo-Fallen Hybrid With A Powerful Arc Sniper, An Army of Puppets, and Electrical Fields
- Featured Dungeon: Vesper’s Host
- The Final Shape Dungeon Key
Dark secrets lurk on a derelict BrayTech space station in the orbit of Europa, and at its end, Guardians will discover the malformed and Corrupted Puppeteer, with suspicious connections to Atraks-1 from Deep Stone Crypt. This Corrupted Puppeteer is a Fallen within the body of an Exo, and it’s time for Guardians to take it out.
Vesper’s Host may be the most recent Dungeon of Destiny 2, and that certainly aids in its difficulty. Getting to the boss encounter isn’t easy, and Guardians must activate nuclear cores to bring the Corrupted Puppeter to the main combat stage, where Broken Puppets and Arc damage anomalies quickly overrun, providing a plethora of ways to get killed and reset the encounter.
1 Simmumah ur-Nokru, Lucent Necromancer
A Teleporting Wizard With a Lucent Hive and Arc Moth Army
- Featured Dungeon: Ghosts of the Deep
- Lightfall Dungeon Key
The dangerous depths of Titan hold vile secrets, including the plans of Simmumah ur-Nokru, the necromancer who seeks to resurrect Oryx, the Taken King with a Hive Ghost. Simmumah is bending the Light to her whim in an effort to bring Oryx back to life, and this is a grand threat that Guardians cannot afford to fight, which is what makes this boss battle so engaging and difficult.
Simmumah’s health pool is extensive, and her constant Arc moth attacks will easily destroy Fireteams. Her constant teleportation makes consistent damage tough, and slaying the three Hive Lightbearers to enter her damage phase is no easy task, providing players with a difficult two-phase, but perhaps even a more average 4-phase.
