In One Piece, the “Pirate Empress” Boa Hancock is considered the most beautiful woman in the entire world. While she definitely gained this title due to her physical appearance and brazen personality, her incredible sense of fashion also contributed a lot to her prestigious reputation.

Everyone knows that author Eiichiro Oda is a masterful character designer and Boa Hancock is one of his best creations, seeing as she constantly wears different attires that manage to reflect her elegant demeanor and her ruthless fighting style at the same time. Needless to say, Hancock’s entire wardrobe is filled to the brim with high-quality outfits, but the following are her best ones so far.

Not many people in the One Piece world have the privilege of witnessing someone as important as Boa Hancock in a more casual and personal setting. However, Monkey D. Luffy and Hancock’s sisters – Marigold and Sandersonia – are obvious exceptions, as all of them got to see her wearing this lovely red pajama robe.

Getting to see this side of this intimidating character is really endearing, and the piece itself looks both elegant and adorable, perfectly for a character who values her physical appearance as much as Hancock. Naturally, red is a color that always looks great on her, and the yellow sash is quite unique, but the beautiful frilled sleeves are what elevate this outfit into one of her absolute best.

5 Impel Down Outfit

It’s Both Fashionable And Practical

Hancock and Salome get ready to enter Impel Down.

Not everyone can pull off wearing a cape, but Boa Hancock is an obvious exception because she always looks amazing in them. And this was never truer than when she entered Impel Downin order to help Luffy save his brother, Portgas D. Ace. On this occasion, Hancock donned a detailed black and white hooded cape that not only made her look imposing but also allowed her to hide Luffy underneath it.

The cape is already impressive in and of itself, but the rest of her outfit is also pretty solid, with the biggest standout being her traditional yellow dress with dark pink imprints of the Kuja Pirates’ Jolly Roger. When taking all of these elements into consideration, it is no wonder everyone at Impel Down respected Hancock so much.

Fortunately, the artists at Toei Animation kept the tradition of designing outstanding outfits for Boa Hancock whenever she pops up in non-canon supplemental material. This is especially true for one of her starring roles in the beloved OVA One Piece: 3D2Y: Overcome Ace’s Death! Luffy’s Vow to his Friends.

A lot of design elements around Hancock and Amazon Lily in general are seemingly based off of Chinese and East Asian cultures, and this is perfectly exemplified by the purple dress with gold rims that she wears during this special episode. Purple and gold are two colors that always look incredible together, seeing as they are often used for characters that belong to royalty, which is perfect for the beautiful empress of Amazon Lily.

3 War Of Marineford Outfit

Boa Hancock’s Iconic Battle Outfit

Hancock’s 3D2Y Outfit looks great, but it’s quite obviously based off of the dress that she wore during the Summit War of Marineford, which she was forced to participate in due to her status as a Warlord of the Sea. Like the elegant icon she is, Hancock almost always wears detailed attire that makes her stand out when she’s involved in diplomacy but would be too cumbersome to wear in a fight.

That’s exactly why she had this amazing outfit ready for this monumental war, which, once again, is made up of a purple traditional Chinese dress with imprints of the Kuja Pirates’ Jolly Roger on it. To no one’s surprise, she managed to both look like a supermodel and like the ruthless combatant she is at the same time, meaning that this outfit not only looks absolutely gorgeous on Hancock, but it’s also comfortable enough for her to use her superhuman abilities with no real problems.

  • Worn In: Amazon Lily Arc, Post-War Arc, Return to Sabaody Arc and Egghead Arc

In the SBS column of Volume 69, Eiichiro Oda revealed that Boa Hancock is the most difficult human character he’s ever had to draw, mostly because of the pressure of having to design the most beautiful woman in the world. This basically confirms that he put a lot of thought and effort into Hancock’s appearance, and it definitely paid off when taking a look at the first outfit he ever drew her in.

Hancock’s original outfit is incredibly iconic and a huge part of what made her such a popular One Piece character. This tone of red looks amazing on her, and it complements her long and dark hair. Her loose sarong features detailed patterns while also showcasing her main tools for combat, while her long legs and white cape tie everything together, as it efficiently makes her look both like a respected empress and a strong pirate captain.

A Reflection Of Hancock’s Personality That Also Looks Absolutely Amazing On Her

  • Worn In: Cidre Guild Arc and One Piece: Stampede

It almost feels like sacrilege to even claim that Boa Hancock’s best outfit was not designed by Eiichiro Oda himself but by Toei Animation for one of their non-canon films. It may sound weird, but the truth is that the dress she wore in One Piece: Stampede (and in the filler Cidre Guild arc) is one of the most incredible pieces of clothing ever designed for this franchise.

The Yin and the Yang are a concept in Chinese philosophy that fits Boa Hancock quite well, since she’s a tough and feared pirate who, in reality, is much more kind and romantic than she may initially seem. So, the idea of giving her a black and white dress that reflects this complex aspect of her personality is quite brilliant.

But that’s not all because, behind all the potential symbolism, lies a breathtakingly beautiful dress with a red and black cape and a purple sash that looks even better on Hancock than her original red outfit. Not to mention that she is heavily featured as one of the main characters of One Piece: Stampede (especially during the film’s climax), so this detailed and effective outfit has been cemented as one of her most memorable among fans.
