How Rinka Became Satan

Satan’s Obsession With Yuri

The episode begins with Yuri and Shiro attending Rick’s heartwarming wedding ceremony. We see yet another cute interaction between Yuri and Shiro, in which she helps him tie his necktie. As the wedding ceremony continues, Yuri reminisces on the past and remembers how they used to behave as children. When the bride throws the bouquet, it lands on Shiro’s head, and he gives it to Yuri.

This episode undoubtedly has a lot of cute moments for Yuri and Shiro shippers. As the wedding ceremony ends, Yuri and Shiro take a walk back and have a conversation. Yuri exclaims that she has started to write a teaching book and commends Shiro for being able to teach students while going on missions. She goes on to say that she does not think about her heartbreaking past anymore, to which Shiro responds that Yuri has finally become an adult. In the next scene, the body possessed by Satan, as we saw in the previous episode, breaks free from the incubator the research facility has kept it in.

Lucifer’s Desperation

Shemihaza, the woman with the long cloak we saw before, visits Lucifer and informs him that the research facility has tried everything in its will to help Lucifer find the perfect body but has failed. Listening to this, Lucifer has a major breakdown and begs Shemihaza to give him a chance, as he just wants to create a world where everyone is equal.

Shiro Meets Satan

In the next scene, the scientists of Section 13 find the body possessed by Satan and tie him down. Shiro is called in to resolve this situation, but as soon as he sees Satan, he gets shocked to his core. Satan has possessed the body of his clone and sibling, Goro. When Satan sees Shiro, he becomes aggressive and escapes.

On the other hand, Rick and Yuri are seen walking together, and Rick asks Yuri for a drink, to which she politely declines as she has some work to do. As they part ways, Yuri feels like someone is following her. To her surprise, she sees Satan, which confuses her a lot as she knows it’s Rinka, but he looks exactly like Shiro. Rinka struggles to make out her name, but before he can say anything else, he gets shot by a sedative, and the true cross order takes him away while also taking Yuri for questioning.

While Yuri is being questioned Rinka wakes up and escapes easily out of the heavy chains and security. Just as he is about to harm the guards, Yuri stops him and he listens to her obediently. Mephisto appears on the scene and says that they will need Yuri in order to tame Satan.

Yuri and Shiro are then seen having dinner together. Yuri tells Shiro how she has started working at Section 13, to which Shiro replies that she is a fool for doing so. To this, Yuri calmly answers that she knows that Shiro was born in Section 13, and just like him, she couldn’t escape fate either. She tells him how she used to play with the Rinka as a kid and had no idea that it was an upper-level demon capable of such destruction.

You know, I used to think about how we were kids and how we played with Rinka all the time. I had no idea back then what he truly was, an upper-level demon capable of destruction. But now, I can’t help but feel that our fates were tied to him from the very beginning – Yuri

Just then, Yuri is called by the research facility, and she leaves the bar. Meanwhile, Rick teases Shiro that he knows he likes Yuri and should be quick, or someone else will steal her. In Section 13, Rinka seems to be quite out of control with his powers, but Yuri is the only one who manages to tame him.

On the other hand, we see a fairly recovered Lucifer talking to Mephisto about the newcomer in the facility, aka Rinka. Lucifer exclaims that Rinka is connected to everything in existence, and he is surely something that gave birth to him and his demon brothers.

Rinka Becomes Satan

The next part of the episode 4 of Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga shows how quickly Satan is learning. He can easily solve complex problems, which surprises Yuri a lot. However, he is still shown to be very emotional and always creates a fuss whenever Yuri is about to leave. The researchers want to expose Rinka to more and more information, but Yuri says that it will be dangerous and that he should first meet someone else besides her.

But seeing how many researchers he has killed already, no one is willing to take the risk. Upon seeing Yuri’s frustration, Shiro volunteers to meet Rinka. As soon as Rinka sees Shiro, he gets extremely angry and jealous. After that, Shiro plays a game with Rinka and beats him terribly, making him even more frustrated. When Yuri leaves, the two guards start gossiping about whether Yuri and Shiro are dating.

Just then, Rinka breaks the emergency door, holds a guard hostage, and demands tons of books in return. When Yuri returns the next day and learns about the incident, she faces Rinka to free the hostage. After gaining all the information from books, Rinka develops an ego and realizes that his powers make him on par with God, and instead of Rinka, he should be addressed as Lord Satan.

I no longer want to be called Rinka. I have transcended that name. From now on, I shall be addressed as Lord Satan. I am beyond all of you, on par with a god – Rinka
