Best Sage Spells In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
There are ten classes, or Vocations, in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, and one of those is a secret. Hero is relegated to the main character of the game while eight other Vocations can be used to make party members in the first town, Aliahan, like the Gadabout.

There are a ton of new and old gameplay features in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. Here’s what new players need to know when starting their adventure.
Getting the Gadabout Vocation up to level 20 is one way to unlock this secret Vocation in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake: Sage. Another way is by finding the Words of Wisdom item. However players create this Vocation, it’s one of the best in the game that offers players abilities and spells from the Mage and Priest Vocations all in one package. Let’s rank the skills that make the Sage outstanding.
7 Tick-Tock
Turn The Time Of Day
Tick-Tock is an exploration ability but one that players will not want to miss out on. It can change the time of day from night to morning sort of like a time travel ability. Certain monsters only appear at night and certain establishments will only open at night. There are items to pass the time and players can always go to an inn and rest as well. However, it’s more convenient to use a spell like Tick-Tock in the field instead of traveling back to a town or wasting money on items.
6 Cock-A-Doodle-Doo
Wake Up The Party From Sleep
Status ailments are common in RPGs and Dragon Quest is notorious for using them against players frequently from normal encounters to bosses. Items or spells can quell the pain like Cock-a-Doodle-Doo. This magical ability will cure the entire party of Sleep, and enemies in this state cannot act at all.

There are several side quests that players should complete early on in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. Here’s which ones not to skip.
Sages can also learn Squelch to destroy Poison, Tingle to cure Paralysis, and Sheen to remove Curses. However, Sages cannot learn a way to heal the party of these status ailments all at once, making Cock-a-Doodle-Doo a rare commodity.
5 Multiheal
Restore Small Amount Of HP To All Party Members
Multiheal is a late-level spell that can heal the party for a moderate amount of HP. It’s a good way to top the party off during a random encounter or boss battle. If Sages use this ability every round, the party may be safe. However, players may also need to dip into using Fullheal which will quite literally fully heal a party member’s HP. It all depends on how hard a particular party member gets hit during the enemy’s turn. To note, the hero of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has a spell called Omniheal which is like a combination of Multiheal and Fullheal.
4 Kabuff
Boosts The Party’s Defense
Kabuff is a defensive spell and one of many stat-boosting abilities that magical Vocations like the Sage can cast. It will boost the party’s defense for a short time against physical strikes. The first boss of the game, Robbin’ ‘Ood, uses devastatingly hard melee strikes, so Kabuff would be a good spell to cast during that encounter. There are other great stat-boosting Sage spells too like Magic Barrier which protects the party from magical attacks. Accelerate can boost the speed of the party, allowing them to act first in the turn order of combat, and Oomph can increase one party member’s attack power temporarily.
3 Kaboom
Blasts All Enemies With Non-Elemental Damage
Players are going to struggle with how to deal with taking enemies down quickly in battle. Area attacks or line attacks will become the player’s best friend in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. For example, Kasizz, Kacrackle, and Kaswoosh are all great elemental spells that will attack groups of enemies. However, the best of the bunch is Kaboom which attacks all enemies onscreen and the magic is non-elemental. This eliminates the chances that an enemy could absorb the blow and restore HP.
2 Kafrizz
Hurl A Giant Fireball At A Single Target
As great as area spells are in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, they’re not so powerful against a boss. That’s why Kafrizz is slightly better than Kaboom. It will hurl one massive fireball at an enemy to deal a large amount of damage.

The Biggest Changes In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
It’s been a long port-heavy road since 1988.
It’s like giving a Sage the ability to cast a meteor down at an opponent although this meteoric spell is not as devastating as the Meteor Sephiroth can cast in Final Fantasy 7. Kafrizz and Kaboom are situational spells and players may swap the two out even during boss battles. The same goes for those other late-level Sage spells: Kasizz, Kacrackle, and Kaswoosh.
1 Kazing
Revive A Party Member
Reviving party members in an RPG can be pretty easy but it’s not in the case of the Dragon Quest series. Few items can do it and they are rare and sometimes inaccurate. Magical Vocations can learn revival spells like Zing but the accuracy and heal-rate are all over the place. Kazing is the ultimate revival skill that guarantees a party member can come back from the dead. Before players unlock this spell, they’ll probably spend a lot of time at churches trying to resurrect their dead party members.
