All Collection Keys in Rail Canyon in Sonic X Shadow Generations

Sonic X Shadow Generations scatters Collection Keys across all seven of Shadow’s Stages, with a total of 18 to find in every stage except the last (which only has 6.) Players hoping to unlock the many chests scattered across White Space will need to track down every last key.

Three such Keys can be found in each Act of a stage, while the remaining 12 are found in the Challenge Missions for each Stage. Rail Canyon is Shadow’s second stage in Sonic X Shadow Generations and does a much better job of hiding some of its Collection Keys when compared to Space Colony Ark. This guide will explain how to hunt down all 18 of them.

How to Find All Collection Keys in Rail Canyon Act 1 in Sonic X Shadow Generations

Rail Canyon Act 1 is a fast and frantic sprint across railway tracks that lead to Eggman’s Base. Reaching all the collection keys in this section is much easier once you’ve gained access to Doom Wings, so consider revisiting this guide once you have them.

How to Get the Green Collection Key in Rail Canyon Act 1 in Sonic X Shadow Generations

The first Collection Key in this act is tremendously easy to reach, found at the end of the rightmost rail during the rail section at the start of the act. Just make sure you keep to the right as you ride this first set of rails, and you’ll hit it without even trying.

How to Get the Blue Collection Key in Rail Canyon Act 1 in Sonic X Shadow Generations

The Blue Collection Key requires a bit more setup, and is most easily reached by using the Doom Wings. Stay in the middle when riding the rails shown in the first image above to collect an item that refills your Chaos Control Meter. Use it as soon as you grab the item to stop the incoming enemies from destroying some rails, then hop onto the left or rightmost rail to launch up into the air. This will let you reach the rail shown in image 2, which you should ride until another rail appears to its left.

Hop to that rail to reach a Boost Ring. As you launch downward, activate the Doom Wings to interrupt your fall and immediately glide forward to get on top of a tunnel. The Blue Collection Key is sitting here.

How to Get the Yellow Collection Key in Rail Canyon Act 1 in Sonic X Shadow Generations

The final Collection Key in this stage is found close to the Goal Ring. To start with, make sure you move to the left or rightmost rail in the grinding section shown in Image 1. Then, complete the train dodging sequence that follows and ride the rails to the end, where you’ll be launched into the air. You need to land on top of the hangars you’re falling towards since the Yellow Collection Key is on one of the rooftops, so land on it, grab it, and then use the rooftop to easily reach the exit.

Rail Canyon Act 2’s Collection Keys are a fair bit easier to reach, though you’ll need to make good use of Chaos Control to reach some of them.

How to Get the Yellow Collection Key in Rail Canyon Act 2 in Sonic X Shadow Generations

To get the first Collection Key you’ll need to take the highest possible route available at every opportunity after starting the level until you reach the switch shown above. Jump into it to create a rail path that sends you right into the Collection Key.

How to Get the Blue Collection Key in Rail Canyon Act 2 in Sonic X Shadow Generations

To get this Collection Key you’ll need to reach the section shown in Image 1 and climb to the top of the destructible scaffolding (use Chaos Control if necessary to avoid it getting broken before you reach the top.) Use the boost ring here, and you’ll be launched right into the Blue Collection Key.

How to Get the Green Collection Key in Rail Canyon Act 2 in Sonic X Shadow Generations

The Green Collection Key is really easy as long as you have a full Chaos Control bar when you reach the section shown in image 1. Use Chaos Control to stop the train, so there’s nothing to knock down the scaffolding, then jump up to the highest layer of the scaffolding and the grind rail will take you right to it.

How to Get the Challenge Act Collection Keys in Rail Canyon in Sonic X Shadow Generations

Four challenges in Rail Canyon offer collection keys, so here’s a quick breakdown of how to find every Key available.

How to Get the Collection Keys in Rail Canyon Act 1: Challenge 1 – Aim and Fire with Chaos Spear!

The First Collection Key in this section is a Yellow Collection Key found right along the main path, sitting on the ground just before the giant fans as shown above.

To reach the second collection key, use the fans to head upward and hit the boost ring atop the structure. Move straight ahead on the path you land on to find a Blue Collection Key.

The Third Collection Key is along the grind rails after using the zipline shown in image 1. After the zipline, ride the rails and jump to reach the rail shown in image 2 (this requires precise timing and is very easy to miss, so be careful.) This Rail will carry you right to a Blue Collection Key.

How to Get the Collection Keys in Rail Canyon Act 1: Challenge 2 – Ring Collector Lv1

To get to the first Collection Key here, hit the grind rail shown in image 1 and jump at the end to reach the boost ring, getting you on top of the tunnel. Use the spring at the far side and then bounce across the enemies shown in image 2 to reach a platform. Use a Chaos Spear on the purple enemy and use them to bounce over to the platform with the Yellow Collection Key. Grab it quickly and then use the spring, as the floor is unstable.

To get the second Collection Key, get to the grind rail section just before the goal ring and move to the rightmost rail, then jump through the boost ring with the Blue Collection Key in it. Now you’ll need to finish and restart the level to get to the final key.

This time, don’t take the boost ring shortcut onto the top of the tunnel, instead going through the tunnel. Then play through the level as normal until you reach the grinding section shown in image 1. The Blue Collection Key can be found along the rightmost rail a little way into the section.

How to Get the Collection Keys in Rail Canyon Act 2: Challenge 1 – Chaos Control Master Lv2

The Yellow Challenge Key can be found by proceeding through the stage until you reach the first section with collapsing scaffolding. Use Chaos Control to stop it from collapsing, then climb up to the top and look left to see a Yellow Collection Key floating there. Grab it and continue onward.

In the next section, when you reach more scaffolding, use Chaos Control to freeze the incoming enemy so it won’t break the scaffolding. Then, climb to the top. At the top, there is a Blue Collection Key floating. Grab it and move along.

The final Key is found in the section with the floating spiked balls, shown in the image above. Use Chaos Control to stop time when the balls are positioned as shown in the image, then use the Boost Ring on the left to reach another Blue Collection Key. That’s the last one available in this challenge.

How to Get the Collection Keys in Rail Canyon Act 2: Challenge 2 – Dash Ring Rush Lv1

To grab the first Collection Key here, you’ll need to take the path shown in image 1 above, using the boost ring to reach an upper path and following it until you reach the section where the key is. You can jump up to it easily from the central bit of scaffolding, or use the boost rings in this area to launch up to it. Grab this Yellow Collection Key and then activate all the Boost Rings to make a spring appear. Use it to leave this area.

After using the spring and landing back on a Grind Rail, use the shortcut shown in the first image above to launch upward. Proceed along this new path until you see the shortcut seen in the second image, then use it to go up higher and head left to find a Blue Collection Key. Grab it and keep going onward and upward.

A short way further on, bounce across the enemies shown in image 1 with the homing attack, then use the Boost Ring circled in image 2 to get up into an enclosed area. Get into the first cannon and line it up as shown in image 3, then launch up into the second cannon. Wait for the third cannon to be above the boost ring, then launch up through the ring and into it. Finally, wait for the third cannon to be under the Blue Collection Key and launch up through it. That’s it for this challenge.
