Netflix has released a look at its animated The Witcher series, Sirens of the Deep, and it looks like Geralt of Rivia is set to fight merpeople, people. But not before he’s grilled by his favourite bard.

Released for the streaming service’s Geeked Week of announcements, the clip features an introduction from voice actor Doug Cockle, who gave Geralt his gravelly tones in the Witcher games — and is now back in the role for Sirens of the Deep.

In the clip, Geralt has a fireside chat with the bard Jaskier (voiced by Joey Batey, reprising his role from the show). Feasting on their latest hunt, the witcher’s relationship with another bard, Essi Daven, comes up. She’s a character from Andrzej Sapkowski’s writing we haven’t met in the show yet, who’ll be voiced by Christina Wren. Anya Chalotra, who plays sorceress Yennefer in the show, will also reprise her role for the animated series, but neither Wren nor Chalotra are in this particular clip.

The larger Sirens of the Deep storyline will see Geralt investigating a seaside town where merpeople attacks on humans are on the rise. It’s one chapter in a conflict going back centuries, and we’re promised the help of “friends — old and new — to solve the mystery,” according to Netflix.

Written by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin, produced by The Witcher series showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, and directed by Kang Hei Chul, the series is the creation of Netflix with South Korean animation studio Studio MIR. Author Sapkowski is on the team too, as creative consultant.

Meanwhile, The Witcher Season 4, with Liam Hemsworth taking over for Henry Cavill, is currently in production.

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is streaming on Netflix Feb. 11, 2025.
