Netflix’s ‘Culinary Class Wars’ trailer looks like a cross between ‘Iron Chef’ and ‘MasterChef’
Netflix has released a teaser trailer for Culinary Class Wars, a South Korean cooking competition series that looks like a cross between Iron Chef and MasterChef. I am immediately obsessed.
Culinary Class Wars pits 100 chefs against each other, divided into two groups. The first are the Black Spoons, comprised of home restaurant cooks, pub owners, cafeteria workers, and other humble food industry workers. They’ll be competing with the White Spoons, a group of Michelin-starred and celebrity chefs who have already made their mark in the culinary world. Contestants will be gradually whittled down until Culinary Class Wars can crown the best chef in South Korea.
“With this global Netflix release, we wanted to showcase the incredible diversity of culinary experts in Korea,” said co-director Kim Eun-ji. “We selected 100 contestants with unique culinary philosophies, representing a wide range of cuisines including Korean, Western, Chinese, Japanese, and fusion.”
Culinary Class Wars arrives Sept. 17 on Netflix.
