‘Daily Show’ goes after Trump’s new crypto scheme with a brutal parody ad
In case you missed the exciting news, Donald Trump has taken time out of his making-weird-comments-during-presidential-debates schedule to launch an incredibly vague sounding cryptocurrency venture called World Liberty Financial.
“This is great news,” says Daily Show host Ronny Chieng in the clip above from Wednesday night’s show. “Donald Trump, the world’s most trustworthy businessman, is now in crypto, the world’s most trustworthy business.”
Chieng goes on to break down what we now about this new venture (not very much) and the people involved it, before segueing into a parody ad from Daily Show senior correspondent Michael Kosta.
“Crypto is a complex intersection of finance and technology and we don’t know shit about it either,” says Kosta. “But what we do know is you like Trump, Trump like money, you give Trump money. Don’t act like you need to do your due diligence here. ‘Oh let me read the prospectus and make sure this is a sound financial decision.’ Fuck you. Pay us.”
