Apple’s next Magic Mouse might come with voice control

Apple is working on an overhauled Magic Mouse, and it might come with a few surprises.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently wrote that Apple is getting the new Magic Mouse ready with an updated design, including a new placement for the charging port. The port, which is currently located at the bottom of the mouse, has long incited laughter from Apple fans and haters alike due to its inconvenience. The new Magic Mouse could arrive in the next 12 to 18 months, said Gurman.

But now, a new report out of Korea by leaker known as yeux1122 claims that the new Mouse will also support voice commands. The report says the device will launch in 2026, roughly in line with Gurman’s predictions.

Gurman chimed in on X, saying that voice control on the Magic Mouse “makes sense in light of AI.” He said that the “big focus,” however, is on “ergonomics and gestures,” including a “relocated” USB-C charging port.

“I’d expect a new keyboard too,” wrote Gurman.

Take all of this with a grain of salt. The report from Korea might just be incorrectly translated original report from Gurman. It does make us wonder, however, what kind of new features will start making sense on traditional products such as mouse and keyboard in the AI era.
