UTA alum Kristin Myers has joined podcast industry research and advocacy firm Sounds Profitable as principal. She’ll work alongside founder Bryan Barletta and partner Tom Webster to expand the company’s consulting capabilities.

Myers comes to Sounds Profitable after serving as executive director of business development and podcasts for talent agency UTA. In recruiting Myers, the company aims to help clients explore “untapped opportunities that extend audio into adjacent industries such as film and TV, books, gaming, nonprofit sectors and emerging technologies.”

“Podcasting is now an unavoidable word in media. It’s weathered two decades of open growth, a pandemic-fueled boom and bust, more than its fair share of ‘SNL’ jokes at its expense, but ultimately, it’s proven just how valuable it is globally as a form of entertainment and information,” said Barletta. “The addition of Kristin to the Sounds Profitable team adds immense value to our existing partners while simultaneously amplifying what we’ve built over the last four years to major industries that fully acknowledge audio, and podcasting, need to be part of their plan.”

Myers’ deep background in audio content includes working for Stitcher, for the startup Anchor (acquired by Spotify in 2019), and for Dan Harmon’s Starburns Audio as creative director.

“There is meaningful connective tissue forming between audio and all other forms of media and storytelling. The job isn’t about defining audio any more. It’s the opposite. It’s about re-imagining its role and how it can make an impact,” Myers said.

Myers was expected to disclose her move to Sounds Profitable on Tuesday during her scheduled appearance at the Podcast Movement conference in Washington, D.C.
