Best Kickboxing Combinations In UFC 5
Summary
Table of Contents
- Keep combos short with rapid-fire attacks to maintain the stamina bar in EA’s UFC 5.
- Utilize combos like elbow & knee or one-two inside leg kick for effective strikes.
- Use faster inputs for lighter punches & mix-up combos to avoid predictability.
EA’s UFC 5 has several complex combinations that players can utilize in their fight for effective kickboxing attacks. Unsurprisingly, kickboxing utilizes the hands and feet to create openings and damage the opposition. However, unlike most fighting games, players must be mindful of throwing too many attacks in combat sports games. Trying to go all-in with over-the-top combinations will destroy their stamina bar before the second round.

Striking is the most popular aspect of UFC 5; here are some of the best fighters in the game.
Instead, it’s better to keep combinations short with rapid-fire one-two or three-hit attacks. This maintains the stamina bar and does away with needlessly showy stamina-draining attacks. This list focuses on shorter and more effective attack combos that are effective for both new and longtime players for UFC 5.
Updated February 12, 2025 by Michael Llewellyn: The UFC games are similar to boxing games like Undisputed in that most players should prepare to fight the long game. However, there are more complexities to learn as it combines kickboxing and boxing in the stand-up game. This list is updated to include another easy-to-learn but effective combo to use in UFC 5. Additionally, all entries have been updated with galleries.
1
Elbow And Knee Combo
Effective When Fighters Have Been Wobbled
- PlayStation: Hold R2 + Triangle > X
- Xbox: Hold RT + Y > A
The knee and elbow combo is an effective one-two movement that can cause a lot of trouble for opponents trying to close the distance. Unfortunately, there are players online who try to exploit this combination by spamming it to oblivion. Don’t even think about trying that.
More skilled players will easily create distance, catch a leg for a takedown, or hold the leg potentially leading to a knockout with a spinning back elbow. Use the combo when wobbled or when an opponent attempts to grab the clinch to utilize a Muay Thai offense like knees and trips. Hit them with an elbow first and follow up with a knee in a quick one-two movement.
2
One-Two To Inside Leg Kick
A Simple But Effective Combo That Attacks High And Low
- PlayStation: Square > Triangle > X
- Xbox: X > Y > X
This is a high-low combination that isn’t complex but teaches speed. It targets the head and catches the inside, potentially damaging both. It’s a good way to make a defensive fighter drop their guard. To successfully land the combo, players must tap the buttons in quick one, two, and three rhythms. However, the attacking player should be mindful of overusing the attack and becoming predictable. A low kick can leave the attacker vulnerable to a counterattack. The one-two low kick is a solid combo that any fighter can use.
Faster inputs land lighter punches for better combos and holding the down button lands harder but slower combinations.
3
Straight Right Cross To Question Mark Kick
A Faster, More Effective Way To Throw The Headkick
- PlayStation: Triangle > L1 + Circle
- Xbox: Y > LB + B
This powerful combination is capable of scoring a flash knockout, a knockdown, or major head damage. It’s a quick one-two combination that makes throwing the question mark kick much faster and less predictable than throwing it on its own. Moreover, it’s an excellent follow-through attack if they already blocked the straight punch. It’s effective in the later rounds when a defending fighter’s guard has been compromised.
Only pure kickboxers like Stephen Thompson and Israel Adysenya can throw a question mark kick. Well-balanced MMA fighters with good kickboxing can still utilize a faster high kick instead of the question mark kick, using the same combination of inputs above.
4
Inside Legkick To Straight Cross
An Excellent Combo To Break Through A Guard
- PlayStation: X > Triangle
- Xbox: A > Y
The inside leg kick to the straight right cross (or left in the Southpaw stance) is one of the most simple but effective combinations in UFC 5. A low kick can make the defending player drop their guard as they step in for a counter, leaving their face open for a damaging straight right that registers as a counter for more damage.

UFC 5: How To Perform Submissions
Submissions have changed in UFC 5; here’s how to perform them.
Leg damage is overpowered in UFC 5, so it’s a great way to chip away at an opponent’s legs. However, if the defending fighter gets wise to their attack, they will check the leg kick which will damage the attacker instead. Mix it up with the one-two leg kick and feints to become less predictable.
5
Jab To Inside Legkick
A Fast High And Low Combo To Slow Fast-Moving Opponents
- PlayStation: Square > X
- Xbox: X > A
Another fast and effective combination for UFC 5 beginners and experts alike, is the quick jab to the inside leg kick. It doesn’t cause massive damage, but it’s good at chipping away at the leg. Many good defensive fighters like to dodge sideways on the left jab to land a damaging counter. Catching them with the outside leg kick will register as a counter and potentially destroy their leg in one hit.
6
Front Push Kick To Straight Cross
A Powerful One-Two Attack To Counter Aggressive Opponents
- PlayStation: R1 + X > Triangle
- Xbox: RB + A > Y
The front kick to the straight cross is similar to the low kick straight cross, as it can catch the defending fighter walking in for an attack or trying to counter after defending the kick. It’s a great combo because if the front push kick lands, it can cause massive damage. If the target blocks and then drops their guard, the straight will land for massive damage or a potential knockout.

The combination can be landed on the move, but it can reduce the effectiveness of the front push kick. Instead, stand still and wait for the opponent to approach. Standing ground and landing attacks cause more damage, and a front push kick to the jaw of an approaching opponent can turn the tide of a fight in one move.
7
One-Two Roundhouse Head Kick
An Excellent Finishing Combo For Stunned Opponents
- PlayStation: Square > Triangle > L1 + Circle
- Xbox: X > Y > LB + B
The one-two and outside head kick is an excellent combination but should be used cautiously. Overusing it can open the attacker up for a counterattack from a damaging lead hook. Moreover, throwing too many kicks will drain the stamina bar. It’s better to use this combination on an opponent with a compromised guard or use it on a stunned opponent. The one-two combo will damage the blocking bar and the high kick can break through for a potential KO.
8
Left Hook To Roundhouse Headkick
A Damaging Combo That Targets The Head From Both Angles
- PlayStation: Hold L1 > Square > Triangle
- Xbox: Hold LB X > Y
The left hook to the roundhouse head kick is a slower combination for everyone except kickboxers. So for this combo, it’s better to use kickboxing specialists like Israel Adesanya. It’s a powerful combination capable of scoring massive head damage and the knockout.
However, it can leave the attacker vulnerable to counterattacks. A well-timed straight right can cause massive damage. Alternatively, a defender who is good at body movement and avoids the first hook to land a hook or an uppercut of their own. Use this move sparingly, or on a stunned opponent.
9
Lead Jab To Side Body Pushkick
A Good Defensive Attack To Create Distance
- PlayStation: Square > L1 + L2 > Square
- Xbox: X > LB + LT > X
The lead jab to the side body pushkick doubles up as a defensive move, pushing an opponent away to maintain distance as well as causing body damage. Like the straight right to a question mark kick, using the jab first makes the push kick faster than just throwing it as one move. It’s an excellent move to use against aggressive fighters, but good defensive fighters can sidestep the attack for a counter if the attacker becomes too predictable.
