Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s DLC Roadmap Follows One Trend from Original
After a seven-year wait since the launch of its predecessor, the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is finally drawing near, with Warhorse Studios attempting to build significantly on the scale and detail of the project that started it all. A wide range of new features and experiences are set to be a staple of KCD2 at launch, with the playable area of the game reportedly being twice as large as the original, while new mechanics like blacksmithing, crossbows, and early hand-cannons only add to this new level of detail.
While the launch content of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 seems to be more than enough to keep fans engaged, Warhorse has already offered some insight into the post-launch content roadmap for the upcoming game. The pace of this upcoming content is set to be frequent and fairly immediate, with the game smartly offering players a range of free post-launch content alongside paid-for DLC questlines that offer expansive new experiences to the title. This same blended release of premium and free content was used for the first Kingdom Come title to great success, boding extremely well for the post-launch prospects of KCD2.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Post-Launch Roadmap Paints a Bright Future For the Title
A lot of the success behind the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance can be attributed to the detail and range of its launch content, with the franchise’s focus on complexity and realism throughout any task the player can perform making for a truly unique, immersive, and rewarding RPG experience. The initial ambition of Warhorse for the first KCD could not fully be met due to budget constraints, with a more realized final product being curated through post-launch content updates.
Over the first year of KCD‘s release, players were given free access to engaging post-launch content like a Hardcore Mode, Tournament, Combat Academy, and full modding support, with these additions being complemented by the release of fully-fledged paid DLC questlines. This gave a fantastic element of longevity and excitement that extended KCD‘s relevancy and community far beyond the hype of its launch, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 seems to be smartly emulating this approach.
According to the recently released post-launch roadmap for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, its freely available 2025 content is aiming to be released in its entirety during spring, being slightly different from the drip-feed approach of its predecessor’s free post-launch content. This free content will see a barber mechanic be added to the game, potentially seeing Henry’s hair grow naturally over time, as well as the addictively difficult Hardcore mode which found a lot of success in the first KCD. Horseracing is the last free post-launch feature announced to come to KCD2 in 2025, with attention then turning to premium DLC.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Free Content Offers a Great Set-Up For its Premium DLC
The first major post-launch DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set for a summer release date, named Brushes with Death, which will see Henry aid a “mysterious artist with an enigmatic past.” Secondly, Legacy of the Forge is set to launch in the fall, being centered around Henry restoring Kuttenberg’s forge and becoming a master blacksmith. The concept of restoring infrastructure seems reminiscent of the first KCD‘s Pribyslavitz DLC, with the Kuttenberg forge likely requiring a lot of time and money before the player can reap some serious rewards.
Lastly, the Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC is aiming for a winter release, with Henry having to stop a deadly disease from spreading through the Sedletz Monastery. This blend of supplementary free content will serve to expand the core experience of KCD2 in time for the release of premium and unique post-launch DLC questlines, with Warhorse hopefully being able to repeat the same success of the original game’s follow-up content by ensuring all players get a taste of something new.
The release windows for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s post-launch DLC are only estimates, and could easily be changed through potential delays.
