Boruto vs. Gohan: Who Would Win?

Published

on

boruto vs gohan

Summary

  • Gohan and Boruto have immense untapped powers, making them formidable opponents.
  • Gohan, while stronger, may not unleash all his powers while Boruto seeks to become more powerful.
  • In a battle, Gohan is likely stronger, but Boruto could win if he provokes Gohan or if Gohan lets him win.

One thing Shounen fans like to do is to compare characters from different anime and wonder what they would do if they had to fight each other. There are plenty of fanfics that revolve around characters from multiple stories fighting against each other or alongside each other.

This can be a fun, imaginative experience if no one takes it too seriously. In this sense, what would be the outcome if Boruto, from Naruto/Boruto series, and Gohan, from Dragon Ball series, ever fought each other?

Here Comes The Challengers

Son Gohan’s True Powers

Gohan is not the type of character who likes fighting. He has always been a studious guy, and, when he was a kid, he was scared of fighting. However, after Goku died for the first time, Piccolo decided to train Gohan, as the boy would probably need it.

As a Saiyan, Gohan is potentially able to achieve any power Goku and Vegeta have achieved, and the story teases many times that he is stronger than anyone else. Toriyama himself has confirmed that Gohan is the stronger than anyone else in the series.

The thing is, as Gohan is not into fighting, he has never unleashed his true powers. In Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, we can see what Gohan can become, as he transforms into what is called his “Beast form”, which we actually don’t know much about.

Dragon Ball teases that Gohan’s powers don’t have any limits. For this reason, his true powers are probably still known, making him an admirable foe.

Boruto Uzumaki’s True Powers

When Boruto started, a lot of longtime Naruto fans didn’t like the story. Many would complain Boruto looked too spoiled compared with when his dad was the main character.

Boruto starts as a fresh shinobi who still had to unlock his true potential, as he has been growing a lot ever since. His potential is probably unmatched, as he has immense chakra’s reserves. Despite being the son of a Hyuga, he didn’t inherit the Byakugan — but, no problem, Boruto was able to awaken the Jogan.

He has trained with many people, including Sasuke, and has learned everything he could from them. After killing Momoshiki, a Karma was implanted in him, increasing his abilities even more.

Boruto is not only powerful when it comes to “special abilities”, but he is also physically strong, to the point that some might think he is “too overpowered”. But that’s exactly because he is so powerful that he would be a suited opponent for Gohan.

What’s The Most Likely Outcome?

While Boruto is powerful, Gohan is hard to match if he battles with all his true powers. From this perspective, Gohan would likely win the battle.

However, Gohan doesn’t usually awaken his true powers while fighting. He is usually quite hesitant to do so. Generally, the moments we’ve seen him fighting with all of his might were ones in which he was enraged, usually due to someone harming a person he considers a family member.

Then we must wonder: could Boruto ever provoke Gohan enough so he will unleash his powers? That seems unlikely. As Boruto is more like Goku and seeks to become more powerful, he has a high chance of winning. Not only that, but also if Gohan realized at any point that winning is too important for Boruto, he likely would “let” Boruto win in the end.

So, basically, considering only each character’s powers, Gohan is probably stronger. Considering each’s willingness to fight, Boruto has the upper hand and would likely win. However, if Boruto managed to mess with anyone Gohan holds dear, he would definitely lose.

Naruto, Boruto and Dragon Ball are available to stream on Crunchyroll.
