Most people assume that JRPGs boast compelling and tactical turn-based combat that is rewarding once players get the hang of things. While this is true to an extent, it’s also a generalization that disrespects some of the best action-packed JRPGs with real-time combat that fans adore.

The modern reimagining of Crisis Core allowed many people to check out one of the greatest Final Fantasy spinoffs ever. The layered plot elaborates on Zack’s story and depicts how he befriended Cloud before the duo had to escape Shinra’s grasp by any means necessary.
As a proud member of SOLDIER, Zack slowly improves his skills until he becomes competent enough to take out the likes of Genesis, Sephiroth, and Angeal all by his lonesome. If players complete the additional missions and acquire high-level materia, they can decimate most opponents. The only challenge they must prepare for is Minerva, a superboss who takes no prisoners.

The protagonist Ryoma looks similar to Kiryu and can become quite overpowered as players level up each style. With enough grinding, he can break his limits and turn his enemies into mincemeat without too many problems.

8 Best JRPGs For Slow Exploration, Ranked
These worlds in famous JRPGs are ideal for players who enjoy a slow, methodical exploration over just running through the main plot of the game.
It’s always odd to see a playable character look like he’s struggling against a foe when players had no problem fighting the boss and schooling it just a few seconds before. This dissonance between the narrative and the gameplay makes it odd why players can feel so overpowered as they give bosses a piece of their mind, with the Villainous Enemies being the only kind of foes who offer any substantial challenge.

Final Fantasy Type-0
The Students Of Class 0 Can Become Ridiculously Powerful With A Bit Of Grinding
Type-0 is one of the most interesting Final Fantasy spinoffs that players can check out, letting them control a massive cast of characters that take a while to get used to. With Breaksights and Killsights being an integral part of the real-time combat gameplay, it’s easy to see why players will gravitate towards fast attackers who won’t miss out on these openings.
This makes it easy for players to get overpowered in Final Fantasy Type-0 and run over most foes without breaking a sweat as long as their reflexes are on point. The only enemy who can give players a tough time is Shinryu Celestia, and players are supposed to lose this fight anyway. If players take on this encounter in New Game+, then it’s possible to get a bit of payback against this powerful boss.

Playing as a protagonist on the side of the law is a first for a Yakuza game, and Judgment doesn’t disappoint. Yagami’s personality may split fans down the middle, but his combat expertise is something that can’t be discredited.
Players who make the effort to grind and level up their styles can juggle enemies and render them defenseless with their boundless skill. Combining this with powerful Heat Moves makes it clear why Judgment can be incredibly cathartic for players who put in the work and make the protagonist more powerful than ever before.

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir
All Five Characters Can Eat A Ton Of Meals And Turn The Endgame Bosses Into A Joke With Ease

Each character has a suite of unique abilities that can be used to destroy opponents, especially if players are prudent about eating meals to level up.

After a lengthy development period that had many fans worried, Final Fantasy 15 finally dropped to a divisive reception. The incomplete nature of the game wasn’t appreciated despite a lengthy time in the oven, but players didn’t mind as long as they got to enjoy one of the most beautiful open-world games that still looks amazing to this day.
The combat can be a bit too easy at times, but players don’t mind because of how flashy Noctis and his pals look in the middle of a heated battle. Even if the player is underleveled, they should have no problems taking on daemons at night as long as they have the restoratives to spare. Meanwhile, making the most of XP boosts will help the party become ridiculously overpowered in no time and let them take on the toughest foes in the game without breaking a sweat.
