Respawn Entertainment has released a new update for the PS5 version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While the patch is relatively small, it should improve the visual experience for those playing Jedi: Survivor on a PS5 Pro.

As the sequel to the generally well-received Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor had its work cut out to live up to the standard of its predecessor. The game looked to allow players more freedom to explore its various planets, like Koboh and Jedha, and gave combat an upgrade with new saber stances for Cal Kestis to master. While Jedi: Survivor received praise for some of its innovations over the first game, a significant issue for some players was performance on both consoles and PC. While the developer has released numerous patches to fix the game since release, not all the bugs have been squashed. Recently, details on the latest efforts to patch the game were revealed.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Makes the Case for a Nostalgic Force Power in Cal Kestis’ Final Chapter

If Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s sequel truly ends Cal Kestis’ story, closure can’t be left unrequited between him and his original father figure.

Specifically, Respawn released a new patch for the PS5 version of Jedi: Survivor. This latest update for the game aims to address issues players on PS5 Pro have been dealing with since the release of the upgraded console. According to the patch notes, the game has been updated to support the latest version of PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution), the AI upscaling technology utilized on PS5 Pro.

In addition to this change, the update looks to improve certain elements of the game’s environments, including reduced foliage flickering on PS5 Pro. The river on Koboh in Jedi: Survivor should also have better reflections, which is a notable improvement, considering the planet is a frequent stop for players. Finally, the update reduced flickering in volumetric fog, which can be prevalent in some areas.

These changes should make for a better visual experience when playing Jedi: Survivor on PS5 Pro. It is worth noting that the patch notes say the update fixes issues “specific to the PS5 Pro.” With this in mind, those playing on a standard PS5 unit might not see any noticeable changes. Regardless, it is nice to see Respawn continue to improve Jedi: Survivor nearly two years after its initial release, especially with the next game reportedly already coming down the pipeline.

According to Respawn, Jedi: Survivor is meant to be the second act in a trilogy of games. While development on the third game has been known about for some time, few details have been revealed about the project. However, fans can take comfort in knowing that Cameron Monaghan is expected to reprise his role as Cal Kestis in the next game, which might bring a conclusion to the Star Wars Jedi saga. Hopefully, continued support for Jedi: Survivor will make the wait for the sequel more bearable for fans.
