Where to Get Golden Rations in Hyper Light Breaker
Hyper Light Breaker has quite a few resources that players should be aware of. Among them are Golden Rations, the rarest of the resources, and they’re needed for some of the most important upgrades in the game.
Unfortunately, Hyper Light Breaker does little to explain what materials and resources are, let alone where to get them. Like other roguelike games, you’ll eventually figure things out as you go, but if you’d rather be done with the guesswork, here’s where you can find Golden Rations more reliably.

Where to Get Golden Rations
There are two main ways to get Golden Rations as of the early access release version of the game: exploration and cycle resets. While you’re out on a run, look for the chest icons on the map. These usually contain resources for purchasing things or unlocking upgrades, and there’s a chance that they might contain Golden Rations. You’ll know if a chest has a ration inside if you see the Golden Ration icon above it.
Locations holding Prisms (indicated by the golden diamond icon on the map) tend to have Golden Ration chests near them.
The second method is to wait or force a cycle reset. A cycle basically refers to every instance of the Overgrowth, and they reset every time your Rez count reaches zero. Once you run out of revives, you’ll get the option to either retry the map in exchange for resources, or reset the cycle completely at the Cursed Outpost. You will get scored after a cycle is reset, and if you score enough to rank up, you’ll get Golden Rations as a reward.
What are Golden Rations For?
Golden Rations are one of the types of materials players need to get in order to progress in Hyper Light Breaker. These are mainly used to unlock upgrades at the home base — you can spend Golden Rations to get permanent upgrades for your characters or new services from vendors.
Additionally, Golden Rations can be used to unlock Sycoms, items that determine your chosen Breaker’s stats and core passive ability. Sycoms essentially determine your Breaker’s playstyle, making these very useful and valuable items.
When you earn your first Golden Ration, we strongly recommend getting the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit before anything else. This should help future runs a little bit easier, especially since the game heavily punishes players who make mistakes during combat.
If you die during a run, you’ll get to keep any resources you found. However, the weapons, amps, and perks you’ve brought with you will take one pip’s worth of damage, potentially destroying them permanently.
