Summary
Table of Contents
- Prioritize effective healing spells like Fullheal and Omniheal in
Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
to ensure survival. - Midheal and Multiheal are efficient mid-to-late game options for healing all allies in combat.
- Avoid using spells like Sheen and Cock-a-Doodle-Doo as they have limited utility and better alternatives exist.
When strategizing team composition in a JRPG, having access to healing is very important. Dragon Quest 3,like many other RPGs from that era of gaming, requires the player to think long and hard about which classes they want to prioritize when it comes to their team composition.

Dragon Quest 3 Remake is a complete rebuild of one of the most beloved JRPGs ever made. Here is our complete collection of guides and walkthroughs.
Effective healing is non-negotiable, and in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake there are 11 healing spells to choose from when in a combat situation. Some of the spells are much better than others and, while the player may have access to the entire list, certain spells should be prioritized.
11 Sheen
Breaks Curse On One Ally
The absolute worst healing spell in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is Sheen. Just because it is at the bottom when it comes to strength, it is still useful in certain scenarios.
However, most of the time it just isn’t worth it. Curse is a pretty rare status ailment to begin with, and Sheen’s high mana cost makes it only useful for a short portion of the game. The other spells simply have broader utility.
10 Cock-A-Doodle-Doo
Wakes All Allies From Sleep
Cock-a-Doodle-Doo is similar to Sheen in the fact that it is only useful in a very specific use case. However, sleep is manageable with other, better, strategies and items.
The best healing spells tend to be useful in many different scenarios. The only reason for a player to use Cock-a-Doodle-Doo is if they don’t have Rousing Rings equipped or their team comp cannot handle taking damage to wake up naturally.
9 Tingle
Cures Paralysis For One Ally
While paralysis is a worse ailment than sleep and curse, it still isn’t present enough for Tingle to be considered a “good” spell.
Being paralyzed is much more disruptive than being put to sleep, but the fact that this spell only targets one ally makes it not worth the 6 MP cost. Like the other status ailment-curing spells in the game, there are just too many ways to deal with ailments without using MP.
8 Squelch
Cures Poison For One Ally
Poison is by far the worst status ailment in Dragon Quest 3 2D-HD Remake because it’s a much more common occurrence than any of curse, sleep, or paralysis.
That being said, it falls into the same pitfalls as the other status ailments in that it’s easily dealt with. Antidotes are easily accessible and affordable. While the cost of Squelch is only 3 MP, that 3 MP could be used for any of the other, better spell options in terms of healing.
7 Heal
Heals 30 HP For One Ally
Heal is a phenomenal early-game spell. It is cheap and efficient, and will reliably restore 30 HP to any member of the party.

Instead of wasting mana curing status ailments, it would make much more sense for the player to just use Heal instead. Spending 3 MP a few times might buy enough time for the player to make it back to town and heal up more thoroughly.
6 Zing
50% Chance Of Reviving One Ally With Half HP
Being able to revive an ally is crucial. Reviving party members is a tedious task that usually requires backtracking to a town and spending gold.
Sometimes it will be worth it to gamble on the success of Zing, which has a 50% chance of reviving a downed party member. However, with that gruesome 10 MP cost, the spell is seen by most players as being too risky, especially in situations where they need it to succeed.
5 Midheal
Heals 80 HP For All Allies
Midheal is a solid mid-game healing spell. Once learned, the weaker Heal spell will most likely never be used again, mostly because instead of healing just one party member, it heals all of them, and for more HP than Heal can manage.
Despite a few spells outclassing it, Midheal will still have its use cases. This is a very cheap and massive heal that can carry players through the mid and late-game.
4 Kazing
Resurrects A Fallen Ally
Reliable resurrection is game-changing, especially in this game’s more difficult encounters. Kazing, much like other spells in the game, will replace its lesser counterpart. There is no reason to ever use Zing once players have learned Kazing. The one downside, though, is that Kazing has a high mana cost.

Once players have access to the best spells in the game, it makes more sense to spend that MP keeping allies alive instead of using it to revive them. However, if the need arises, Kazing is guaranteed to revive a downed ally, instead of its success being the equivalent of a coin toss.
3 Multiheal
Heals 80 HP For All Allies
Multiheal is the best of both worlds when compared to the other healing spells in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake.
The spell is incredibly efficient, as it heals all allies for 80 HP, and its mana cost isn’t too bad either. Once learned, it will take over most of the use cases of Midheal and Heal, and will continue to be useful well into the late game.
2 Fullheal
Full Restores HP For One Ally
Fullheal is arguably the best healing spell in the game. It has it all. It is a low mana-cost spell that fully restores the HP of an ally without any extra mechanics or gimmicks.
This spell is invaluable in single-target scenarios and players can even dedicate their healer to using this spell every single turn, since there is very little negative to repeated uses. It simply does not get better than Fullheal.
1 Omniheal
Restores All HP For All Allies
The only healing spell that could be debated as the best healing spell in Dragon Quest 3 Hd-2D Remake is Omniheal. It is a full heal for the entire party, restoring the HP of every party member.
Omniheal is a lifesaver in the game’s toughest fights. Full-party heals guarantee survival, so even though the spell has an immense 62 MP cost, it’s often worthwhile in certain situations. However, a dedicated healer spamming Fullheal will be better more times than not, but when things are going bad in a hurry, Omniheal can save the day.
