The popular Castlevania Dominus Collection has received a new update patch for December, bringing with it a variety of content and various bug fixes. The beloved collection, which is composed of a variety of games from the Castlevania franchise’s storied history, now features an all-new mode for one of its games, and includes new ways for players to view the screens of the titles they are playing.
Released by original developer Konami in August 2024, the Castlevania Dominus Collection primarily consists of Castlevania titles released on the Nintendo DS. This includes Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, which are considered some of the best Castlevania games in the series. The Castlevania Dominus Collection also includes the 1988 arcade game Haunted Castle along with a new version called Haunted Castle Revisted, the latter of which is the recipient of arguably the biggest component of the content update.

Given Castlevania Dominus Collection‘s popularity despite one glaring Castlevania title omission, Konami has now released Castlevania Dominus Collection ver. 1.0.3, which adds an all-new Boss Rush Mode to Haunted Castle Revisited. The new mode has a bit of a caveat, however, as players must first beat the game in order to unlock the new mode. The update patch also adds new display layouts, which allow players to change the position of the different screens given the DS titles’ dual-screen nature. While several bugs were fixed, though exactly what those were remains a mystery.
Castlevania Dominus Collection‘s new update appears to be a bit more of a substantial one than its last. Castlevania Dominus Collection‘s October update added new artwork for Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia along with a bug fix for Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. The prior patch interestingly reintroduced a small glitch in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin that seasoned players use as an exploit, with the update humorously referring to it as a feature.
Although it’s been a decade since Konami released an original Castlevania title in the form of 2014’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, the IP has soldiered on via crossover content. The most recent example happened fairly recently with Vampire Survivors‘ Ode to Castlevania DLC, which adds over 20 characters from the Castlevania franchise, including those featured in Castlevania Dominus Collection. This brings about a full-circle moment for Vampire Survivors by adding content and characters from the IP which the game is heavily inspired by. With Castlevania‘s seemingly undying popularity, fans are still hoping for an all-new original title someday.

- Added new display layouts to change the position of the different screens.
