Call of Duty: All Black Ops Zombie Modes, Ranked
Table of Contents
Zombies have been essential to the DNA of Treyarch’s Call of Duty titles since World at War, but how do the Black Ops games rank them?
Learning every Field Upgrade is going to be essential for understanding just what to aim towards and when to use it since players can only bring in one Field Upgrade to utilize in a specific moment of the battle. It’s best to know how to win in Black Ops 6 with this accelerating combat equipment.
Updated on December 13, 2024, by Jake Fillery: It’s essential that players take the best Field Upgrade with them into battle for Black Ops 6 Multiplayer, which varies depending on the map and the mode. There are 11 Field Upgrades in Black Ops 6 Multiplayer, and players are going to want to know which ones are worth avoiding, and which ones are worth holding onto for easy kills and a better time across all Multiplayer modes.
11 Tactical Insertion
Respawn at Specific Spots
- Marks a location as your next spawn point.
- Unlocked at Level 39
The Tactical Insertion is an infamous Field Upgrade from the early days of Call of Duty that was used to aid in boosting and camping, allowing players to reset their spawn point to surprise enemies and remain in hard-to-reach spots when they are killed.
However, fast-paced gameplay doesn’t benefit the Tactical Insertion all that much, and it’s only really useful for a surprise attack on an enemy that’s just killed you in a camping spot, unaware that you’re just going to spawn right back in and behind them. Tactical Insertions simply grant no real advantage in any game mode, as most objective-based modes are far too fast-paced to see respawning in a specific spot as an advantage, and the design of the maps will have constant spawn flips to make it even more pointless.
10 Acoustic AMP
- Personal audio amplifier that makes enemy footsteps louder for a duration.
- Unlocked at Level 41
The Acoustic AMP is going to make it so that players can hear the footsteps of their enemies far louder for a certain duration. However, that’s only really beneficial to those without the right audio mix. Even for players who might not be attuned to the best hearing, it’s not that great.
Being able to hear footsteps isn’t as good as being able to physically see the enemy or know where to shoot, so the Acoustic AMP serves as a pretty useless Field Upgrade unless a player is camping in a spot and needs to be aware of incoming footsteps, yet, the Vigilance Perk in Slot 3 provides visual indicators whenever you are seen by the enemy, so that’s better used instead.
9 Signal Lure
- Reveal your position to enemies and tap into enemy voice comms. Earn bonus score for eliminations and survival.
- Unlocked at Level 27
Signal Lure is a lot of fun, and it’s a Field Upgrade that features high-risk and high-reward play. As soon as players activate the Signal Lure, they will be on the enemy’s radar, exposed to their foes in the worst ways. However, that just adds to the thrill of fighting them off.

Black Ops 6: Zombies Characters Who Deserve Operator Skins
Call of Duty Zombies is iconic, and as Black Ops 6 embraces that identity, it’s time to bring more characters into the field as Operator skins.
Killing enemies while the Signal Lure is active provides an additional score for eliminations and survival time, and the fact that players will be able to hear enemy comms makes it all the more immersive and fun, but it mainly serves as a gimmick that might not benefit the team, and players might die pretty fast when they have their position exposed to the enemy.
8 War Cry
Improve Ally Movement Speed and Health Regen
- Rally your team, improving nearby ally movement speed and health regeneration.
- Unlocked at Level 35
For those who stick as a unit, War Cry will really help sweep buildings and clear through areas thanks to the fact that with a single War Cry, allies within the vicinity have increased movement speed and greater health regeneration to make themselves faster and heal back from gunfights quicker.
Increased health regeneration is always nice, but only really benefits after a battle where wounds have been sustained. War Cry will also give a speed boost that makes clearing areas far better and easier, but the lack of a greater health pool can mean that players still die in the same ways, except they might just heal a tad quicker if they manage to escape.
7 Assault Pack
Retrieve Ammo Refills in a Box
- Deploy a box of extra ammo and equipment to resupply your team.
Running out of ammo is enough to scare anyone, so with the Assault Pack, players can drop an extra box of ammo that can be used by the player who threw it down and their teammates. It’s nice to allow for support, providing teammates with fresh ammo and equipment to refill lethals and tacticals.
However, the Assault Pack isn’t the best, especially on shorter maps or faster-paced combat situations, as when players die, they will have their ammo back, so bringing an Assault Pack just as a backup isn’t really necessary, especially with the Scavenger Perk in Slot 1, and the fact that spamming equipment on maps like Nuketown just isn’t very viable.
6 Morphine Injector
Enter Last Stand to Get a Second Chance at Life
- For a duration, fatal damage puts you into a Last Stand state. Teammates can revive you, or get a kill to self-revive.
- Unlocked at Level 44
It doesn’t have to be the end to get shot up with bullets if players use the Morphine Injector. With this Field Upgrade, players will be able to revive themselves if they get a kill, or be revived by an ally. It might seem useless sometimes due to the enemy’s ensuring that the player is dead by riddling them with bullets, but that’s not always the case.
With the Morphine Injector, some players might shoot to kill and then run off to find a new target, without realizing that this player is in the Last Stand state, providing an opportunity to get revenge and get back up into the fight. There are ample opportunities to use the Morphine Injector, as many players in close-quarter maps will simply get a kill and keep running, without knowing you’re just going to get right back up and kill them back.
5 Scrambler
Disrupt Enemy Equipment, Including Scorestreaks
- Creates an area that disrupts enemy equipment, field upgrades, scorestreaks and minimaps.
- Unlocked at Level 18
The Scrambler is a great item for holding down the fort and keeping enemies at bay by ensuring that their equipment becomes useless. It’s like a portable Counter UAV, and can even be far greater than that since it disrupts scorestreaks and field upgrades from being activated within its vicinity, but the cone of operation is a tad small.

Black Ops 6: Best Treyarch Maps That Need a Remake
Treyarch has some of the best Call of Duty maps of all time that would truly benefit from being remade into Black Ops 6.
The Scrambler will create a distorting area for equipment that enemies will have to find and destroy, so it can really be used to a great effect to counter enemies who just want a hot spot to camp down in. It’s basically a portable EMP, and the best part is how players will want to find it and destroy it, so players can either hide it somewhere, or protect it to kill unsuspecting enemies who fall for the trap.
4 Neurogas
A Gas Cloud That Can Keep Enemies at Bay
- Deployed trap which emits a neurotoxic gas cloud, causing severe hallucinations and disorientating and damaging victims.
- Unlocked at Level 48
The Neurogas Field Upgrade will deploy a gas cloud that can really make enemies in for a bad time by providing hallucinations and disorientation that will provide them with damage and unfamiliar surroundings to make them easily killable.
The Neurogas is like a powerful piece of tactical equipment that will combine the effects of a concussion grenade with extra lethality and fun hallucinations for allies, but not for enemies. Neurogas is only stationary, so it’s best to use it to control a zone rather than to run around with it, allowing for players to lockdown areas in objective-based modes for a short while.
3 Trophy System
A Defense System for Destroying Lethals and Tacticals
- Deployable defense system that destroys enemy projectiles in the air.
- Unlocked at Level 12
The Trophy System will benefit players who are pinned down and camping in specific spots, due to the fact that any enemy equipment thrown will be destroyed by the Trophy System. Whether it’s a tactical or a lethal explosive, the Trophy System will quickly delete it from existence. This is vital for tight maps like Nuketown, where being killed by a grenade is inevitable upon leaving spawn.
A deployable defense system is great for snipers and those who like defending a single building, but it’s especially great in objective-based modes where players will throw tacticals and lethals every time they spawn in for an advantage, and this is an advantage that the Trophy System can deny, and negate the impact of rockets to keep explosives away from held-down objectives.
2 Spring Mine
Destroy Vehicles and People Alike
- Deploy an anti-infantry mine.
The Spring Mine will allow players to lay down a trap that will kill anything that triggers it. It’s hard to detect and avoid, so the moment a player steps within the vicinity of a Spring Mine, it’s safe to say that they are going to find themselves dead and respawning, as will whoever on their team is nearby to be caught in the powerful blast.
A Spring Mine greatly benefits campers or defending objectives, as players can throw it down to truly set it and forget it, as it’s inevitable that an unsuspecting enemy is going to run into it, especially since they are more focused on kills and objectives rather than looking at the ground in case of a rogue Trip Mine.
1 Sleeper Agent
Appear as an Ally to Enemy Teams
- Infiltrate the enemy team, appearing as an ally and tapping into enemy voice comms. Unsuppressed gunfire reveals you temporarily. Enemy equipment and Perks see through your disguise.
- Unlocked at Level 51
The Sleeper Agent turns players into a spy as they disguise themselves as an ally on the enemy team. Joining them with their comms, players can use the Sleeper Agent to take out their opponents in disguise, but unsuppressed gunfire will still expose the player and alert the enemy team to the fact that there is an infiltrator among their ranks.
It’s hilarious to jump into a game and use the Sleeper Agent to infiltrate an enemy team, although players need to be aware that certain perks and enemy equipment can see through the disguise, but that doesn’t make it any less fun to pretend to be a friendly, only to be able to focus on a killing spree from behind enemy lines.
