Marvel Rivals' Latest Leaks Paint a Clear Picture of the Future
Marvel Rivals has finally launched, and excitement for the game is reaching an all-time high. The game had built plenty of anticipation throughout its release, especially thanks to relatively consumer-friendly monetization practices, and its starting roster of 33 playable heroes. Marvel Rivals enjoyed several months of public development, and rumors ran completely rampant.
Nearly every character in Marvel Rivals‘ launch roster was datamined relatively early in its development cycle, and this leak remained credible all the way up until the game’s release date. The roster itself is relatively large and impressively diverse, but still features a few notable snubs. The Fantastic Four and the X-Men are household names for Marvel, but both fell short of what one might expect from their representation in Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals Leaks Have Good News for X-Men Fans
Marvel Rivals Launch Roster Has a Notable Lack of X-Men
The Fantastic Four’s absence is no doubt the biggest head-scratcher, considering the impending release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, this potential for cross-promotion does at least provide a reasonable excuse. Moreover, there have already been Marvel Rivals‘ leaks revealing Mr. Fantastic and The Human Torch, which seemingly dispels the worry that Marvel Rivals would leave out Marvel’s First Family.
With that in mind, it becomes all the more confusing that the X-Men were left in the dust. After Storm and Wolverine, almost none of the most iconic members of the X-Men made the cut. Magik and Psylocke are compelling additions, and members of the current X-Men team, but have less historical connection to the team than some of the characters that have been left out. The same can be said for Magneto, with his history spanning from team leader to arch-nemesis, but both of these roles easily justify his spot on the roster.
If anything, it brings Marvel Rivals‘ representation of the X-Men further into question. The original X-Men consisted of five members under the guidance of Professor X, and each founding member has remained relevant to the team ever since. The original team consisted of Cyclops, Marvel Girl (also known as Jean Grey), Iceman, Angel, and Beast. Unfortunately, not a single one of them made the cut as a playable character in Marvel Rivals.
Thankfully, this may change in the very near future, according to a new round of Marvel Rivals leaks. Fumo Leaks has claimed to have unearthed some upcoming X-Men content, which ranges from playable heroes to new maps. Although none of it has been confirmed yet, the timing of this rumor makes it worth considering, especially thanks to its status as a supposed datamine.

Jean Grey, Emma Frost, and More Could Be Coming to Marvel Rivals
Given its nature as a hero shooter, new playable characters will likely always be the most exciting reveal for Marvel Rivals. According to a recent post made by Fumo Leaks, both Jean Grey and Emma Frost will be added to Marvel Rivals. This is thanks to both of their names reportedly being discovered in the game’s code, but the leak goes an additional step further beyond that.
No images have been discovered of either hero yet, as has been done with characters like The Fantastic Four. Even Blade and Ultron seemingly have physical assets, which may make one question the credibility of this leak. However, if the information being spread in the wake of the datamine does turn out to be true, it’s nearly as extensive as Marvel Rivals‘ Fantastic Four leaks have been. Along with their names, this very same datamine appears to have discovered the kits of Jean Grey and Emma Frost.
The details of each ability aren’t listed, but their names are, and that already allows eagle-eyed fans to infer plenty about their playstyles. One would assume that Jean Grey should have the ability to resurrect herself, and the “Phoenix Elegy” ability seems to support this theory. Likewise, it isn’t too hard to imagine what Emma Frost’s “Diamond Form” could do. Jean Grey’s kit seems to place her squarely as a Duelist, while Emma appears much closer to a Vanguard, with both sharing features common to Strategists. Neither of them has been confirmed for any of Marvel Rivals‘ roles just yet, so any other comments are nothing more than speculation.
Jean Grey and Emma Frost are seemingly the only leaked playable heroes to hail from the X-Men, but they still weren’t alone. Datamines also seem to include Krakoa and Arakko as upcoming maps in Marvel Rivals, with both locations being very important to X-Men comics in recent years. The inclusion of both maps lends the characters and their kits that much more credibility, and especially lends credence to the idea that Marvel Rivals could be in store for an X-Men season much sooner than later.
