Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players aren’t happy with the highly-anticipated release of The Replacer bundle, which includes an operator skin for the beloved Call of Duty character of the same name. This time, fans aren’t unhappy with the aesthetics of a skin, but they are frustrated with Black Ops 6‘s The Replacer bundle due to the fact that its variant is locked behind the game’s Blackcell Battle Pass. Over on Reddit, a post by UnexpectedEmuAttack believes it is “insane” that players must purchase a $30 Blackcell Battle Pass just to use a variation of a $30 skin. For those who might be out of the loop, The Replacer bundle includes two operator skins, but one can only be acquired by purchasing Black Ops 6‘s Blackcell Battle Pass, which is an additional purchase on top of the bundle. Rather bizarrely, players must also purchase the Blackcell Battle Pass before the bundle, or they won’t receive the variant. Purchasing the bundle and then Blackcell will result in the player receiving just the standard Replacer skin.

It looks like the community is inclined to agree with the original poster too, as they have garnered over 1,600 upvotes at the time of writing. Many of the responses urged others not to buy the bundle and to not engage in the practice to prove a point to Activision, but not everybody is on the same page. Reddit user Xander540 believes Black Ops 6‘s Blackcell Battle Pass is worth the money for those who play regularly. “The monetary value is there,” the user said. “If you play the game a lot and care about that sort of stuff you’ll get your money’s worth.”

Call of Duty and cosmetic bundles have gone hand-in-hand for many years now, which means it’s unlikely that Activision is going to change the way it monetizes its games anytime soon, even with massive outrage from players. While there are fans calling for others to boycott in-game purchases, Call of Duty has become a powerhouse in the gaming world, meaning any attempt at getting the community to stop spending real money on bundles and Battle Passes will likely be futile.
