Horror movies and fan theories often go hand in hand, but there seem to be a lot of ideas about what Scream 7 could be about. Redditor @NewRetroMage has an idea: what if Scream 7 was set between Scream 4 and Scream (2022)? The fan explained that the slasher franchise could be inspired by Saw X, the 2003 movie that takes place between Saw and Saw 2. The Redditor explained:

worked, I’d make Scream 7 be set between 4 and 5. So Dewey is still alive and we see Sidney’s final change, from the already bada** survivor from 4 to the Ghostface hunter she was on 5.”

I love this idea as I think it would solve a few problems. For one thing, it would help fill in the holes and gaps in Sidney’s character arc. I liked seeing Sidney come back for Scream (2022), but I was a bit disappointed with how little she was actually in the movie. It would make a lot more sense to set a new movie between the fourth and fifth movies so fans could learn more about what Sidney was doing for so many years. Sidney should feel different in Scream 7 because she’s older and has dealt with Ghostface for so long. But I think that fans need to find out more about who she is now that she’s no longer a teenage final girl.

This fan theory for Scream 7 would also help explain Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and Dewey Riley’s (David Arquette) divorce. Learning that they split up was shocking, and fans didn’t feel like they got enough details. I want to see an amazing and intelligent Gale in Scream 7, and hopefully, she’ll help lead the charge against Ghostface. However, I also want to learn more about this part of her personal life.

Horror fans have heard for a while now that Scream 7 will be about Sidney Prescott’s family and, therefore, it seems like the story will take place right after Scream 6. This will allow the franchise to focus on Sidney’s grown-up life. Hopefully, audiences will hear a little bit about any big moments (both good and bad) that have happened to her in the past few years..

Despite the lack of plot details, fans have come up with ideas about Scream 7. Some think it’s possible that one of Sidney’s children could be Ghostface. Others wonder if there is a way to bring Dewey Riley back.
