Rumor: Major Xbox Franchises Could Be Crossing Over With Call of Duty
Key Takeaways
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 reportedly gearing up to release collaborations with DOOM, Gears of War, and Halo.
- A Call of Duty x Halo collaboration was planned for 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 but was canceled for unknown reasons.
- Call of Duty has previously collaborated with TV shows, hip-hop artists, and more.
New rumors suggest that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is gearing up to collaborate with some of Xbox’s biggest franchises, including DOOM, Gears of War, and Halo. Although these rumors have yet to be confirmed by Activision, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 publisher is now owned by Xbox parent company, Microsoft, meaning the aforementioned collaborations are increasingly likely.
Back in January 2022, Microsoft announced its intent to acquire Call of Duty publisher for an eye-watering $68.7 billion. After numerous setbacks and lawsuits for Microsoft, the company eventually completed its acquisition of Activision-Blizzard in October 2023, bringing franchises like Crash Bandicoot, Diablo, Spyro the Dragon, Candy Crush, Call of Duty, and many more under the Microsoft/Xbox umbrella. After the deal was finalized, it was only a matter of time before numerous Activision games began making their way to Xbox Game Pass, but now it looks like collaborations are next on the studio’s list.

Call of Duty Leak Reveals Major Collaborations for Black Ops 6
According to various data miners and industry insiders, including COD Warfare, VondyIsPog, and Shpeshal_Nick, major characters from a variety of Xbox franchises are coming to this year’s Call of Duty title. It has been reported that the likes of Doom Slayer, Master Chief, and Marcus Fenix were all set to debut in 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 but, for reasons unknown, the collaborations were pushed back and will now be arriving in Black Ops 6. While fans can likely expect plenty of new operator skins to come to Black Ops 6 thanks to the collaboration, COD Warfare also suggests that numerous Halo, Doom, and Gears of War weapons will also be made available.
Having Call of Duty under the Microsoft umbrella was a huge talking point when the company announced its acquisition of the shooter’s publisher, and while collaborations with other Xbox titles were a given, it was the series’ move to Game Pass that had many fans intrigued. While Modern Warfare 3 made its way to the service in July 2023, the Call of Duty community was shocked when Xbox added Black Ops 6 to Game Pass on day one of its release. And according to Microsoft’s CEO, Black Ops 6 has been a huge hit on Game Pass.
With Activision-Blizzard now comfortably under the Microsoft umbrella, collaborations between the two studios’ titles seem somewhat inevitable. In the past, Call of Duty has collaborated with the likes of The Boys, hip-hop artists Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj, Tomb Raider, and many more. While it looks like Call of Duty‘s collaboration with Halo, DOOM, and Gears of War has been revived, it’s important to take these details with a pinch of salt until they are confirmed by either Activision, Treyarch, or Xbox.
