COD Zombies: Richtofen's Best Quotes
Edward Richtofen is arguably the face of Call of Duty Zombies, and whether it’s through sheer madness or burdened with purpose, he has managed to excite the COD Zombies community for over a decade with some of the best quotes out there. Whether hilarious, emotional, or impactful, Richtofen’s best quotes are rather varied.

The fate of every crew in Call of Duty Zombies is revealed, allowing players to see the endings of their favorite characters, no matter how tragic.
Both Primis and Ultimis Richtofen have spoken some incredible lines of dialogue across World at War to Black Ops 4, and the delivery from Nolan North showcases just why this performance is so iconic and beloved, and how hopefully it’s only a matter of time before Richtofen spouts more incredible lines in Black Ops 6 Zombies.
8 “Goodbye, Doctor Maxis.”
Ultimis Richtofen Celebrates His Victory Over the Leader of Group 935
- Featured in: Der Riese
- Spoken by: Ultimis Richtofen
While not as riveting or hilarious as Richtofen’s other lines, “Goodbye, Doctor Maxis” is iconic in its own right for how it starts the COD Zombies storyline as a whole. This is Richtofen’s first victory over Maxis, as he condemns both Ludvig Maxis and his daughter Samantha Maxis to the teleporter in the Der Riese facility, beginning a chain of events that could not be undone.
Listening to the radios across Der Riese and hearing the resentment in Richtofen’s voice come out as he finally claims victory over Maxis is great character growth and something that would forever alter the storyline that fans have come to know and love.
7 “Nein, Drop That, That’s Mein Spleen, MEIN!”
Ultimis Richtofen Fights a Monkey Over Pablo Marinus’ Spleen
- Featured in: Call of the Dead
- Spoken by: Ultimis Richtofen
As Ultimis Richtofen’s insanity grows, his diary logs found across Call of the Dead also become more unhinged. Beginning each audio log with a humorous and high-pitched “DEAR DIARY”, Richtofen recounts the loss of a patient’s spleen, until his laughter is interrupted by a monkey test subject who tries to take the spleen.
The fact that Richtofen is experimenting with people is heinous enough, but his wrestling with a little monkey over a lost spleen is so absurd and funny, with the audio log cutting out in the midst of the German butcher fighting a screeching monkey for a spleen.
6 “I Walk a Path No Other Can Take, I Alone Can Lead Us to Salvation.”
Primis Richtofen’s Mission is Perhaps the Most Consequential Action of Any Man
- Featured in: The Giant
- Spoken by: Primis Richtofen
While the other members of Primis might not fully understand or trust Richtofen, it’s clear that he’s been through a lot through the years. Richtofen has seen things and done things that no one else would have the strength to do, and he deserves recognition for it as he tries to lead himself and his allies to a better tomorrow.

Richtofen’s self-importance isn’t smug, and it’s a fact that what he is doing is riddled with sacrifice and burden that no one else would be able to do. His resilience, fight for survival, and ethics make him the perfect candidate to save the universe.
5 “I Need to Find Some Ammunition! UGH! UGH!”
Ultimis Richtofen Makes Some Weird Noises When Grieving Lost Ammo
- Featured in: Kino der Toten
- Spoken by: Ultimis Richtofen
Richtofen takes an odd amount of pleasure in killing zombies, and perhaps that pleasure is a tad too erotic for the other members of Ultimis. Whether it’s with a knife or gun, Richtofen loves to kill the undead and butcher them. However, in later rounds, running out of ammo is anxiety-inducing for players and Richtofen.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 – 9 Zombie Maps That Need Remakes
There is a great selection of Zombies maps that would make for an incredible time in Black Ops 6 with a potential Zombies Chronicles 2.
When faced with a situation where ammo runs dry, Richtofen will often scream out his need for ammunition, followed by these ridiculous moaning sounds that just can’t help but elicit a chuckle from whoever is listening to this deranged doctor.
4 “You Answered the Crawl of Duty, Wink Wink, and You Paid the Price.”
Ultimis Richtofen’s Breakage of the Fourth Wall
- Featured in: Alpha Omega
- Spoken by: Ultimis Richtofen
Usually, the fourth-wall-breaking antics are best left reserved for the beloved Ultimis “Tank” Dempsey, who is constantly harassing Treyarch and “the player” to turn on the power, get him some ammo, and other general insults. However, Richtofen is more crafty with his fourth wall break when he says the “Crawl of Duty”, a play on Call of Duty.
It’s not exactly subtle considering Richtofen immediately follows up with a “Wink, Wink”, showcasing that he knows exactly what he has said, but does he know who is listening? Not many characters break the fourth wall, but perhaps Richtofen’s insanity within the MPD has shown him things others wouldn’t understand.
3 “This Me… Was… the Nicest One. You Won’t Even… Remember.”
The Death of Primis Richtofen
- Featured in: Blood of the Dead
- Spoken by: Primis Richtofen
I have been witness to miracles and calamities. Dimensions born and collapsed. I walk a path no other can take. I want to be me, the one who did all the hard work. I wanted to keep going. This me… was… the nicest one. You won’t even… remember.
One of the saddest moments in the entire COD Zombies storyline is when Richtofen was left for dead on Alcatraz Island in Blood of the Dead. Richtofen was hooked to a machine that would drain all his blood, except when the time came to free him, Primis decided to leave him to his fate, where he would be drained completely of his blood until death took him with a cold embrace.

Most Polarizing COD Zombies Maps
The Call of Duty Zombies community is often butting heads about which maps deserve to be ranked first or last in their tier list.
This isn’t the first Primis Richtofen, but it is one that wanted to continue the infinite cycle of fighting for the Immortal Souls of Ultimis and fighting in the Great War to reset the universe forever and ensure his survival. The fact that Primis blindly follows a Richtofen from the Great War and leaves their version of Richtofen to die is extremely sad, especially with such a powerful monologue that shows how Richtofen worked so very hard, and how he was actually a good man, deep down.
2 “How am I Meant to Work When All Around Me I Am Beset by the Voices of the Damned, and the Doomed?”
Primis Richtofen’s Mind Cracks Under the Cosmic Pressure of Saving the Universe
- Featured in: Origins
- Spoken by: Primis Richtofen
Primis Richtofen has a far harder responsibility to the multiverse than the selfish scheming of Ultimis Richtofen. With so much death following every footstep and bullet, Richtofen presents a scale of vulnerability within his voice as he talks of the burdens of his work among the death that suffocates him.
Richtofen has killed millions of zombies at this point, and even a younger version of himself, so it’s no surprise that their souls—and his, weigh heavy on him as he attempts to do the right thing to save the lives of his friends and himself.
1 “There is So Much to Do… The Vessel For Maxis, the Staffs, the Opening of the Gateway.”
Primis Richtofen’s Opening Quote in Origins Haunts His 115 Delusions
- Featured in: Origins, The Giant, Der Eisendrache, Zetsubou No Shima, Revelations
- Spoken by: Primis Richtofen
The introduction to Richtofen in his Primis variation with Origins showcases a man burdened with responsibility. This isn’t the same deranged German scientist, but someone who wants to do the right thing for his mentor, Maxis. As such, he repeats to himself a list of things he needs to do in order to free Maxis and ascend to Agartha with Samantha.
Yet, these instructions repeat in his mind thanks to the 115 delusions he has whenever he teleports or experiments with the element from space. In most Primis maps, Richtofen will repeat this line and grow further frustrated with the fact that it’s on his fevered mind.
