Agatha All Along recently wrapped up its season, bringing WandaVision’s first spin-off series to a close. However, recent actions indicate the book may not be closed completely on Agatha Harkness’ adventures.
Agatha All Along saw Kathryn Hahn return to the role of the notorious witch, Agatha, a Marvel Comics character who exploded in popularity after her live-action debut in WandaVision. The series served as an indirect sequel to WandaVision, picking up with Agatha after the events of the finale which left the character trapped under Wanda’s spell. While Agatha All Along primarily focused on Agatha’s story, it also picked up on some loose plot threads from WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness by re-introducing Billy Maximoff as Joe Locke’s teenage character. Agatha All Along was received positively by critics and fans and has led to Marvel Studios’ preparing to campaign for the series come awards season.

Agatha All Along Awards Submissions Hint At Season 2
Variety reports that Marvel Television Studios has submitted Agatha All Along in the Best Comedy Series categories for the 2025 awards races, which will include the Golden Globes, Emmys, and SAG awards. Agatha All Along was originally conceived as a miniseries, but it seems will not be submitted in the Limited or Anthology categories. The Television Academy’s rules for limited series submissions denote that the program must tell a “complete, non-recurring story” and not have any ongoing storylines or main characters in subsequent seasons. Marvel’s choice to submit Agatha All Along in the comedy category instead of as a limited series seems to suggest that the studio may have plans to either renew the TV show for another season or continue its story in some way.
Marvel’s Awards Submission May Be Strategic
This submission may also be a strategic move as the limited series categories at the major awards shows are typically full of heavy hitters, which may make it difficult for Agatha All Along to stand out, particularly as the 2025 season will likely include shows like The Penguin, True Detective: Night Country, and Baby Reindeer. That being said, the Best Comedy Series categories will be no slouch either, with the Marvel series likely to contend with new seasons of The Bear and Hacks.
MCU projects have gained many nominations and some wins at the major awards shows in the past, but typically the series have been submitted in the limited or miniseries categories due to their complete nature. WandaVision and Moon Knight were both submitted in the Limited or Anthology series categories, while Loki was able to submit as a drama thanks to its two seasons. Marvel is yet to announce a renewal for Agatha All Along, but the end of the first season did seem to indicate that some of the major characters could return, either in a second season or a follow-up of some kind. The upcoming Vision Quest series is expected to be another sequel to the story of WandaVision, so perhaps Marvel Studio will find some way to make this a sequel to Agatha All Along as well, so that both series may qualify for awards.
Agatha All Along is now streaming on Disney+.
