Horizon: Zero Dawn and its sequel’s narrative was one of its strongest aspects. These story-heavy games are just as compelling in that regard.
How To Fast Travel in Horizon: Zero Dawn
Fast traveling in Horizon: Zero Dawn is performed via Campfires, which are scattered throughout the game’s enormous map. They are in abundance throughout the world, but you will first need to discover them before you can take advantage of their benefits. To unlock a Campfire, players simply need to approach it. Once unlocked, you will have the ability to fast travel to that location, or, when standing by the Campfire itself, you can save your progress and make it a checkpoint in case you die.
Fast traveling can also be done to any settlement, provided Aloy has discovered it by venturing inside of it. You can fast travel to any settlement or Campfire by opening the map, hovering your cursor over the desired destination, and pressing the Travel button (R2), as indicated on the bottom of the map. The action isn’t free, however, as players will need to have a Fast Travel Pack on hand.
How To Get Fast Travel Packs
There are a number of ways that players can get their hands on Fast Travel packs, but they are namely via crafting them or picking them up as loot. Making one yourself is the most accessible way to acquire another pack, and can be done by opening the Crafting menu and navigating to the Travel section. To craft a Fast Travel Pack, players will need the following materials:
- 15 Ridge-Wood – these can be harvested by approaching small, leafless trees throughout the world.
- One Fatty Meat
- One Bony Meat – both meat types can be found by harvesting wildlife. Be on the lookout for animals like Boars, Turkeys, or Foxes, as they will have what you need.
Alternatively, players can also loot Fast Travel Packs or purchase them from vendors. They are often found inside supply caches or as rewards for completing quests, but can be purchased for two Metal Shards, 15 Ridge-Wood, and one Rich Meat from most merchants.
How To Get A Golden Fast Travel Pack
As an alternative to constantly crafting, finding, or purchasing Fast Travel Packs, players can also opt to buy a Golden Fast Travel Pack. This will allow unlimited Fast Travel uses, removing the need for players to continuously track how many they have in stock. While it’s not available early in the story, you won’t need to go too deep into the narrative to get your hands on one.
To get a Golden Fast Travel Pack, players will need to purchase it from a specific vendor. While there may be others you can buy it from, the easiest place to acquire one is via the Hunting Goods Merchant in Meridian. Under the Resources section of his shop, you’ll find this very rare item at the bottom of the list. Given how valuable it is, the Golden Fast Travel pack isn’t cheap, but well worth it. To purchase one, you will need the following:
- 50 Metal Shards
- One Fox Skin
- 10 Fatty Meat
Once purchased, you’ll only need to concern yourself with ensuring your desired travel destination has already been discovered, making it far easier to venture from one side of the map to the other.
