How to Defeat The Headbanger in Windblown
Once players get close enough, the screen will fade to black for a second before squaring them off against The Headbanger. A large health bar appearing on the screen is an iconic trait of boss battles that lets players know they are in for a tough fight. Players will want the right Upgrades purchased for their runs, and know what gear will help them out.
Ranged weapons are a great way to always throw some damage at an enemy while being able to safely go back on the defensive by dashing. Players should have one of their two weapons as a ranged option for when things get too intense, and they need to deal with some of Headbanger’s canisters.
Here is a list of all the attacks players can expect Headbanger to throw their way, as well as what they can do to prepare for the fight ahead.
Swipe & Headbutt
Two of the easiest attacks to react to are Headbanger’s swipe and his headbutt. Headbanger will hold back its hand or its head before doing either of these attacks. A player can dash in any direction to avoid a swipe, but will want to dash to the side to avoid a headbutt.
This is because his headbutts will cause a quake that travels forward. Headbanger will always perform these as a combo attack, with a headbutt follwoing two swipes. So long as players dash to the side, they can follow up with melee damage against all of these attacks, with a long combo following the headbutt.
Dash
Headbanger is capable of performing a quick dash just like players. This is a good reason players should always keep a bit of distance from Headbanger once it has ended any of these animations. Players who want to get in close with a melee weapon should do so before it has time to set up for a follow-up attack. Luckily, it will not spam this dash like players can.
Slam Down
This boss will occasionally jump up into the air. When this happens, players will want to dash away immediately, as it will soon come crashing down. This will cause the ground beneath him to shatter upward.
Bomb Rings
Headbanger will have a ring of purple spheres drop around him that will detonate shortly after. Players can get some melee hits in before they dash away. This will not be the only ring, as additional ones will fall further than each previous ring.
Once the second ring has detonated, players can get back in close to keep dealing melee damage. Ranged attackers will have a much easier time, as they can maintain a consistent damage output from a safe distance from all of these rings.
Canisters
Headbanger will throw out these cylindrical canisters that will extend their top-up. A middle part will then rise up, and then cause a shockwave when it slams down. Headbanger is able to throw multiple of these out at once, and this can cause the field to become extremely overwhelming. Players should prioritize taking out these canisters the moment they are deployed, otherwise they will find themselves unable to dash to safety and have damage start to pile up against them.
Players can damage these at melee range, but will want to dash away before they send out their shockwave, at which point they can finish it off with ranged damage, or dash back in to dodge the shockwave and finish it off with melee attacks.
Eye Laser
Players can use Headbanger’s eye laser attack to their advantage, as it is able to damage, and even destroy, Headbanger’s own canisters. Players should always damage his canisters from the opposite side of where Headbanger is, in the hopes that he will use this attack and end up destroying them himself. All of these scrap metals and hidden tech-related weapons really feed into the atmosphere of The Factor level.

Roguelike and roguelite games can provide gamers with incredible power. Here are some titles from the genre that boast the best power creep systems.
Fighting Headbanger in Windblown
While fighting defensively is a great tip for players in general, there are some specific tips that will help with this fight in particular. Players will have plenty of opportunities to get some good gear to fight against Headbanger, and here are some noteworthy options. Players will want to purchase a Health Flask Upgrade, as this will let them recover 60% of their HP. They will also want Backstabber to increase their all around damage output, especially from getting behind Headbanger after his headbutt.
In terms of gear obtained throughout the run, players will want at least 1 ranged option. This can allow for some extra damage when on the other side of a shockwave, or when there is a lot of damage happening around the field at the same time. Even players that prefer melee will welcome all the extra damage they will be able to pull off when melee attacks are too risky.
Players will want the Frost Nova Trinket, as this can completely freeze Headbanger and open him up to optimal DPS from a player. Another great Trinket is the Goo Bomb, which can cause damage over time. Goo Bomb is best used on the windup of his first swipe, or when he is using his laser, as he will not be moving around and will likely take the full effect of the damage.
Players can also speak with the NPC by the canon that starts expeditions, as they can join up with other players, or invite their friends to come along with them. There is power in numbers, and multiple players with Frost Nova can open up a massive amount of damage against this boss. Players that overcome this challenge and all others that lay ahead will be rewarded with an unlockable new Leaper design.
