Marvel's Spider-Man 3 Can't Keep Peter Parker Sidelined for Long
Key Takeaways
Table of Contents
- Peter Parker needs to make a comeback by Marvel’s Spider-Man 3’s third act, at the latest.
- Launching a spin-off for Silk before Spider-Man 3 could set up an earlier return for Peter in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.
- An earlier reintroduction of Peter would provide a proper conclusion to the mainline series.
With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2‘s story now officially closed for good, the only option now is to look ahead to the third installment, which will reportedly conclude the mainline series. By the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker has handed off the torch to Miles Morales, after he spent the majority of the game’s story with his mental health and relationship with Mary Jane on life support and now needs a bit of a break. Assuming Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 will have Peter on the bench for some portion of the game, it would be remiss to leave him there for long.
There are countless ways Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 could re-introduce Peter as a playable character, but timing is arguably the most important. As the beloved hero has now been cemented as a pivotal part of Marvel’s Spider-Man‘s legacy, Peter needs to rejoin the fray in the next installment sooner rather than later, and it needs to be in an epic way.

Peter Parker Should Arrive by Marvel’s Spider-Man 3’s Third Act
At the latest, Peter should step back into the spotlight by the start of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3‘s third act, perhaps to help out in the fight against the game’s biggest baddies. This would not only make his introduction necessary, but it would also potentially lend to its explosiveness. That being said, Peter arriving on the scene even sooner might be preferable, as he is the core hero of Marvel’s Spider-Man‘s overarching story. At the very least, perhaps players might be given an opportunity to see Peter running errands around town using his Spidey skills and maybe even introduce an inner conflict in the process that shows him struggling with retirement.
It’s assumed that Miles and Silk will be the main playable characters for the majority of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3‘s story, but it may not sit well with fans if it takes too long for Peter to arrive on the scene. Furthermore, as Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 will be the last game in the mainline series, it needs to give a proper end to Peter’s story, as it all started with him anyway.
The Better Route Might Be for Another Spin-Off to Launch Before Marvel’s Spider-Man 3
Even more than just making sure Peter Parker shows up by Marvel’s Spider-Man 3‘s third act, it might even be better for the series to launch another spin-off title similar to Miles Morales ahead of the third mainline installment’s release. Just as Miles Morales was used as a means to introduce the titular character and connect him with Peter Parker, a spin-off subtitled “Silk” could do the same for that character and give her proper screen time in the process.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 3
‘s third act…
There are a couple of big reasons why another spin-off might be the better route for the series to take ahead of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3. Firstly, if Silk is to be a prominent, playable character of any kind and not merely a side character who’s helping Peter and Miles, she needs a proper introduction and a chance to have the same attention that has been given to Peter and Miles in their own games. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, another Marvel’s Spider-Man spin-off before the next game would potentially allow Peter the opportunity to join the fight even earlier in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, as its story wouldn’t have to spend time fleshing out Silk’s character and her relationship with the other heroes.
It’s unclear where Marvel’s Spider-Man might go from here, especially after the unfortunate leak at Insomniac seems to have put a kink in the developer’s plans. Regardless, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 can’t keep Peter on the bench for very long, and either making him playable early on or by the series launching another spin-off title before the third game might do the trick.
