Fallout: London May Have Set the Stage for a 2025 Game to Take Off
In the wake of the Fallout show’s success, the demand for a new Fallout game is understandably at an all-time high. While fans can look forward to full-game-sized mods for a fresh Fallout experience, namely Fallout: London, the wait for another official Fallout game is likely going to be a while still. However, another Fallout-like game set in the UK, Atomfall, could fill the void for Fallout fans waiting for the franchise’s next official installment. Atomfall will be coming to PC and current-gen consoles in March 2025.
Players looking for a new action RPG, as well as Fallout fans, may want to keep their eyes on Atomfall’s upcoming release. Especially for the players who enjoyed the fan-made Fallout: London, this upcoming game from the studio behind the Sniper Elite and Zombie Army franchises may be just the kind of refreshing experience that Fallout fans have been waiting for, in the meantime of Fallout 5’s distant release.

Fallout: London Was a Mixed Bag For Fallout Fans
Fallout: London brings a fresh new experience to the franchise by nature of the game’s setting being uncharted territory for any of the official Fallout games. Still set in a world as faithful to the official Fallout franchise lore as a fan-made mod can be, Fallout: London takes players across the pond for the first time to a uniquely British wasteland.
Fallout: London Makes the Wait for Fallout 5 Less Miserable
For both newfound Fallout fans who came from the success of the Fallout show, or longtime fans of the franchise, Fallout: London is a perfect way to survive the wait for Fallout 5’s distant release. The same can be said for the upcoming Fallout: Nuevo Mexico, another game-sized mod that is likely to arrive before Fallout 5. This is by no means Fallout: London’s only strength, but with no news of any official Fallout game remakes, and Fallout 5 still likely several years away, Fallout: London’s release arguably couldn’t have come at a better time.
Current predictions suggest that
Fallout 5
’s release may not be until 2028 at the earliest.
Fallout: London Is Often Overlooked, Underrated As a Fan-Made Mod
Despite its scope, quality, and ambitious setting receiving praise, Fallout: London being a PC-only, fan-made mod, unfortunately, led to it being overlooked by many Fallout franchise fans. It didn’t help that Fallout: London’s launch suffered from technical issues, but in general, the game not being a canon, official entry in the franchise seems to be a deal-breaker for some franchise veterans.
Fallout: London Walked So That Atomfall Could Run
In many ways, Atomfall will be free of the shackles that bind Fallout: London, namely having a fresh start in building a new world. Consequently, given Atomfall’s gameplay similarities to the Fallout games, the upcoming release of Atomfall could very well be the overseas Fallout-like experience that fans have been waiting for.
A survival-action game inspired by real-life events,
Atomfall
is set five years after the Windscale nuclear disaster in Northern England. Explore the fictional quarantine zone, scavenge, craft, barter, fight and talk your way through a British countryside setting filled with bizarre characters, mysticism, cults, and rogue government agencies.
For the players who have given Fallout: London a fair chance, its familiar gameplay in a fresh setting has generally been met with praise. Ultimately, despite facing a mixed reception, Fallout: London seemingly walked so that Atomfall, a new Fallout-like game with a British setting, could run. In the meantime of Fallout 5’s distant release, Fallout fans, or any players looking for a new action RPG should look no further than Atomfall, coming in March 2025.
Atomfall
will be available on day one for Xbox Game Pass.
