In Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero Knowing how to use all the different skills at your disposal is crucial, especially when you come up against tougher foes throughout the story modes and when playing online. Knowing how to use movement and evasion techniques like the Dragon Rush and Perception, for example, can make it much easier to close in on foes and deflect their deadliest attacks.

One technique that opens up a ton of new combo potential in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is Instant Transmission. This allows you to instantly warp toward your target and unleash a powerful strike, launching your opponent and putting you in position to follow up in various ways.

All characters can use instant transmission to quickly advance on the enemy and launch a heavy attack. These attacks are also called “Vanishing Assaults.” To use Instant Transmission you need to press the Rush Attack and Ki Blast buttons at the same time.

For PS5 players this is Square+Triangle, while for Xbox Players it is X+A. Players using a Keyboard just need to hit V.

Vanishing Assaults will behave differently based on your distance from your opponent. At close range, you’ll appear behind the target and launch them away with a heavy attack. At mid-range, you’ll close the distance, appearing in front of them before using a heavy attack that does not launch the target. At long range, you’ll teleport a short distance toward your opponent but do nothing else.

While the long-range Vanishing Assault is generally pretty useless (outside avoiding certain incoming Ki Blasts, though there are easier and more reliable ways of doing that), the short and mid-range Vanishing Assaults are hugely useful, with the latter helping to close distance, and the former setting up a ton of different follow-up attacks.

After launching an enemy with a close-range Vanishing Assault, you can follow up using Dragon Homing (Into Dragon Smash or Burst Smash), Vanishing Attack, Lightning Attack, or a Chase Change. Dragon Homing (Performed by following a Vanishing Assault Launch by pressing the Dash Button) launches you toward the launched foe and can then be followed with a Dragon Smash (By pressing the Rush Attack Button) or a Burst Smash (by Pressing the Ki Blast Button.) The former attacks them from the front, while the latter circles behind them first.

By pressing the Ki Blast button after launching an enemy, you can teleport to them and hit them with a follow-up attack. This is called a Vanishing Attack. Pressing the Perception Button (Circle on PS5 or B on an Xbox Controller) instead will have you teleport to them and stomp them into the ground (This is called a Lightning Attack). Finally, entering the input to swap characters after launching the enemy (regardless of whether they were launched using Vanishing Assault or not) will make the character you switched to appear next to them mid-flight and attack them, allowing you to switch without breaking your combo.

Certain versions of Goku have access to Instant Transmission as a Skill, which can be used by spending 2 Skill Count. This is very different from the Instant Transmission attacks mentioned above and instead allows Goku to spend 2 Skill Count to instantly appear next to his opponent. This is fantastic when you’ve launched your opponent a great distance, or when they’re staying away from you and trying to charge. You can, with good timing, follow this up with an attack of your choice to catch them completely off guard.
