As 2024 slowly draws to a close, gamers who plan ahead are likely already looking at deals for the holidays either for themselves or their loved ones, and sales for the holidays sometimes come with free games giveaways on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Those who regularly visit the Epic Games Store can find themselves adding one or two titles to their libraries every Thursday or so, with no telling as to which games will be offered with each rotation.

Due to the nature of just how frequent the promotion is on the Epic Games Store, it makes sense for some titles to remain in the rotation between the months and years in which they’ve been offered before. The week of October 17 is one of these times, as players have another chance to grab Invincible Presents: Atom Eve, and those who already have it can grab the latest addition to the promotion, Kardboard Kings.

Epic Games Store Free Game Invincible Presents: Atom Eve Explained

While players await the upcoming AAA Invincible game that’s currently in the works, players can explore the world of the mature superhero show through the eyes of Atom Eve. For this adventure, the usual comic book art befitting a heroine like Eve is translated into a visual novel format, where the people players choose to help or not and change where the story goes, with a secret ending for fans to find along the way.

One of Invincible Presents: Atom Eve‘s defining features lies in how players have plenty of choices to make about how Atom Eve’s powers develop, what special skills she earns, or what dialogue options get unlocked along the journey. Invincible Presents: Atom Eve may have been one of the Epic Games Store free games back in March, but with a four-hour length and a Strong OpenCritic rating, those who missed out when it was given away for free may want to take the second chance to grab it when it comes back around.

Epic Games Store Free Game Kardboard Kings Explained

October is already a great month for fans of card games, and the Epic Games Store has decided to sweeten the deal by offering Kardboard Kings to its users at no extra cost. As Henry Hsu, players will need to purchase, sell, and collect cards from the trading card game Warlock to help the family business thrive, scratching the itch of opening packs and getting holographic cards and trading them for many fans of the genre. Players have mixed feelings about Kardboard Kings‘ story, but its simulated aspects of what being a card shop owner is like has enough heart in it to keep players hooked.

The way this indie game navigates the world of trading card games is worth checking out while the game is being offered for free, even if players find that they don’t enjoy its low points. Warlock combines Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic the Gathering to truly feel like an easy-to-understand yet tricky-to-master game within a game as well. Even if the main adventure of Kardboard Kings isn’t players’ tea, Warlock can be played on a special location called Card Game Island as a roguelite game mode that will keep going until fans eventually lose.

If both games offered as part of the Epic Games Store’s promotion when it resets on October 17 don’t interest gamers, then perhaps they might get lucky next week as the next freebies will be announced on the same day. Players can find out what new games are being given away a week in advance every Thursday at 10 AM CT when the new games are up for grabs, so even if one set of titles doesn’t interest players, there’s always a reason to check back in to see if the next week is their lucky break.
