Universal Hollywood Super Nintendo World Reveals Holiday Plans

Although Halloween is still a few weeks away, theme parks are always several steps ahead, and a recent announcement confirms that Universal Studios Hollywood is getting ready for Christmas. The popular Super Nintendo World will be decorated for the Christmas holiday for the first time in 2024, offering Universal Hollywood guests an exciting array of new events and experiences.

Guests at Universal Studios Hollywood Resort can enter the world of their favorite video games at Super Nintendo World. Featuring characters like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and more, the area is largely interactive and seen by many as being a major feat of theme park technology. The new land debuted at Universal Hollywood in 2023 and will open along with Epic Universe at the Universal Orlando Resort next year.

As Christmas approaches, Universal Studios Hollywood has revealed its holiday plans, with the festivities slated to begin on November 29, 2024, and run until January 6, 2025. For the first time, Super Nintendo World will also celebrate the holiday season and will feature several themed offerings for guests, including a photo op of snowmen dressed like Mario and Luigi, a tree topped with a Super Star, and much more. In addition, guests can purchase holiday merchandise at various Super Nintendo World retail locations and enjoy seasonal food and beverage items at the Toadstool Cafe.

Universal Hollywood Unveils First-Ever Super Nintendo World Christmas Celebration

While this is the second year that Super Nintendo World has been open for guests, it will be the first time that the area will transform for Christmas. This new celebration joins the holiday experiences already available throughout the park, including the “Grinchmas Who-biliation,” inspired by the beloved Dr. Seuss tale How the Grinch Stole Christmas, as well as “Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter” in Hogsmeade Village. Universal CityWalk will also feature holiday decor, including a 40-foot-tall Christmas tree, and will provide several entertaining offerings, including DJ performances, street performers, and live bands throughout the season.

The holidays are the biggest and busiest time of year for theme parks, as they go above and beyond to provide new and immersive themed offerings and decor for guests. Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights is perhaps the biggest holiday offering at the Universal parks, but Christmastime is a favorite for many guests, infusing visitor’s daily lives with a little extra magic. Game fans are eager to see what Super Nintendo World has in store this winter.

The Universal parks have been busy with exciting announcements and updates coming to both Universal Studios Hollywood and the Universal Orlando Resort. Epic Universe will open at Universal Orlando sometime next year as the third main park at the resort, and will bring to life beloved franchises including How To Train Your Dragon, Harry Potter, the Universal Monsters, and Super Nintendo World. Universal Hollywood will be offering a brand-new after-hours event next year, the Universal Fan Fest Nights, which will feature franchises like Star Trek, Back to the Future, Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece, and more.
