Variety Announces New York Party Celebrating Cover Star Rachel Zegler
Variety will host its annual New York Party, this year presented by Film AlUla, on Oct. 6, celebrating cover star honoree Rachel Zegler along with the individuals profiled in Variety’s 2024 New Power of New York Impact List.
The New Power of New York Impact List recognizes 50 creatives, executives and entrepreneurs who are making waves in the New York entertainment scene. From film and television to music and theatre, these artists and visionaries personify the spirit of the ever-evolving city and show us what New York offers to the global industry.
The party will celebrate cover star Rachel Zegler, the 23-year-old actress who currently leading “Romeo + Juliet” on Broadway. She made her first steps into the entertainment industry in 2019 when Stephen Spielberg cast her, then just a 17-year-old, in his remake of “West Side Story.” Since the film’s release in 2021, Zegler has been high in demand, playing a supporting role in the DC film “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” and lead roles in “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” as well as the upcoming films “Y2K” and “Spellbound.” And in 2025, she’ll be seen in her biggest role yet: the title princess in Disney’s live-action “Snow White.”
Variety’s co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh will give opening remarks at the event along with Film AlUla’s acting executive director Zaid Shaker.
“Variety’s New York issue is one of our favorite franchises of the year, and this year’s magazine issue is one of our biggest and most dynamic yet. We look forward to celebrating our cover star Rachel Zegler and all the talented artists, executives and storytellers on Variety’s prestigious New Power of New York list.”
“Rachel Zegler is an exceptional talent, and we are thrilled to partner with Variety in celebrating her achievements. At Film AlUla, our mission is to foster creative collaboration across all aspects of filmmaking, showcasing both emerging and established talent,” Shaker said. By offering filmmakers the unique opportunity to work in a location where ancient history meets cutting-edge innovation, we aim to position AlUla as a dynamic hub for global film production. Our sustainable and growing infrastructure is designed to inspire creativity, and we look forward to welcoming the world’s filmmakers to experience it firsthand.”
