Assassin's Creed Shadows' Delay Adds to a Huge February 2025 for Gaming
It was sadly announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is being pushed back to February 2025, with fans now having to wait even longer to experience the franchise’s long-awaited portrayal of feudal Japan. While the new release date for the title is three months later than what fans were initially told to expect, hopefully the delay ends up providing players with a much more enjoyable and polished final product.
The delay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows might not be a terrible thing in and of itself, but it now means that the upcoming title has to compete with the releases of a huge range of other extremely high-profile gaming projects. With Assassin’s Creed now joining its ranks, February 2025 is set to see the release of several massively anticipated games across a variety of genres, making the month one of the most exciting that the gaming industry has seen in a very long time.
February 2025 Will Be a Month to Remember For the Gaming Industry
Following its delay, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now set for a release date of February 14, with fans having been waiting for an AC title set in this era of Japan for quite a long time. The setting and scale of Assassin’s Creed Shadows has created quite a lot of hype around the project, but there are many other February 2025 releases that are aiming to make just as large an impact on the gaming industry, if not bigger.
For example, February 2025 will also see the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, with fans having waited seven years since the launch of the original game. KCD2 promises to be bigger and better than its predecessor, featuring a larger playable world and much more diverse combat, making the RPG title one of the most exciting of 2025 as a whole.
Fans of strategy games also have a lot to look forward to in February 2025, with the massively anticipated Civilization 7 also being set to release. Launching on February 11, Civilization 7 is the first fresh title to release for the franchise in almost a decade, building on the formula of its 2016 predecessor in many ways. Players can look forward to a thoroughly revamped combat system in Civ 7 as well as new plague and tribe mechanics, with the upcoming title seeming like the perfect evolution of the longstanding and beloved strategy franchise.
Japanese Studios Have a Big Say in February 2025’s Game Releases
February 2025 is also set to be a big month for Japanese studios, with two AAA titles coming from Capcom and Ryu Ga Gotoku. Monster Hunter Wilds is confirmed to release on February 28, adding Monster Hunter Wilds to February’s stacked list of anticipated games.
Ryu Ga Gotoku’s Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii was only recently announced, also aiming for a February 28 release, adding a shocking new entry to the franchise’s rapidly growing catalog. Acting as a spin-off to January’s Infinite Wealth, Pirate Yakuza will see iconic character Goro Majima finally return in a protagonist role. As the captain of his own pirate ship, fans can expect to see a lot of unique gameplay and locations alongside the return of the series’ classic beat-em-up combat.
While it is a shame that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is facing a small delay, fans still do not have long to wait to finally get their hands on the title. With anticipated releases coming from a huge variety of massive studios, February 2025 is clearly going to be a fantastic month for the gaming industry.
