Pokemon Fan Designs Paradox Form for Porygon-Z
Key Takeaways
- An artist created a Future Paradox form of Porygon-Z named “Iron Backup” with a more metallic design.
- Fans praised the artist for the unique concept and suggested Electric or Steel typing for the new form.
- The artist’s concept adds to the speculation about future design upgrades for Porygon-Z in upcoming Pokemon games.
A Pokemon fan artist designed a Future Paradox form of Porygon-Z and shared their finished handiwork on social media. The Pokemon fan artist was complimented by fans for their continued efforts to make Paradox forms for critters that do not have them, and some fans discussed how powerful a Paradox Porygon-Z would be in a battle.
Known as the Virtual Pokemon, Porygon-Z debuted in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl as the second evolution of the Porygon line. Porygon-Z can be obtained by evolving Porygon2 via trading while it holds a Dubious Disc. Like its predecessors, Porygon-Z is a Normal-type Pokemon created for scientific research. While it retains the round, blue, and pink body of Porygon2, its eyes have been changed from white to yellow, and it displays erratic behavior and movements. This implies that Porygon-Z’s evolution was a flawed and buggy process. Porygon-Z can be caught in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in Five-Star and Six-Star Tera Raid dens.
Although Porygon-Z is the embodiment of glitches found in the Pokemon series, an artist wondered what a perfected Porygon-Z would look like. A Reddit user named HertzBurst designed a futuristic Paradox form of Porygon-Z and shared their work on the r/Pokemon subreddit. To conform with the naming conventions of Future Paradox Pokemon found in Pokemon Violet, HertzBurst chose the name “Iron Backup” for their Paradox Porygon-Z concept. Using Porygon and Porygon2 as a basis, Iron Backup was designed as a Porygon-Z that had been restored from Porygon2’s data, with all traces of Porygon-Z’s corrupted data wiped out. This resulted in its body becoming more metallic, its blue bill and flippers glowing with translucent light, and its eyes changed to look similar to those of other Future Paradox Pokemon. Iron Backup’s body also assumed the same pose as Porygon2.
Pokemon Fan Artist Creates Future Paradox Porygon-Z Concept
Known for previous Paradox Pokemon fan art of critters like Mudkip, HertzBurst was complimented by Pokemon trainers on the subreddit for their latest handiwork. While Iron Backup did not have any listed types, a few fans suggested that one of its types could be the Electric type to match its virtual design. Other combinations that were suggested included pairing the Steel type with either the Electric or Normal types. Each response also included the signature Future Paradox Pokemon ability called Quark Drive, which would increase Iron Backup’s highest stat when Electric Terrain is active, or if the Pokemon holds a Booster Energy item.
While Pokemon fan artists have also given the Porygon line some regional variants, the Virtual Pokemon has not received any changes since Porygon-Z’s release. With Pokemon Legends: Z-A arriving in 2025, only time will tell if Porygon-Z will get any design upgrades.
