Key Takeaways

  • Destiny 2’s Vesper’s Host dungeon will introduce Contest Mode and a race, offering unique rewards.
  • Contest Mode will be active for 48 hours, rewarding a special emblem and the Dungeon exotic for fireteams that are able to clear it.
  • Destiny 2 Weekly Dungeon and Raid rotator is seeing more improvements: adding 2 options for each activity, increasing gear farming opportunities.

Bungie announced that the upcoming Episode: Revenant dungeon, Vesper’s Host, will also be the first one in Destiny 2 to have Content Mode enabled and feature a day 1 race. Episode Echoes is finally nearing the end of the road and over the past few weeks, Bungie has revealed new details for the upcoming second episode which brings back Scorn villain Fikrul, who has somehow acquired one of the fallen Echoes that resulted from the defeat of The Witness during the events of Destiny 2‘s Final Shape expansion.

Kicking off in October, Episode: Revenant begins the second planned content pack, ultimately leading to Codename: Frontiers in the summer of 2025. While details are slim, Bungie’s teased more expansions for Destiny 2 with Codename Apollo followed by Codename Behemoth, alongside 4 major updates starting in Summer 2025 through the Spring of 2026. For now though, Revenant is also bringing some changes to the core game, namely in that the story is no longer timegated, with Bungie trying something new and allowing players to experience the narrative beats on their time rather than having to wait numerous weeks in between. In addition, Bungie has more content on the way as well.

In this week’s blog post, Bungie gave Destiny 2 fans more details on the newest dungeon coming to the game in October. After outlining plans for adding Dungeon and Raid content into Destiny 2 with Codename: Frontiers, Episode Revenant is first adding a new activity called Vesper’s Host. This dungeon will be a first for the Destiny 2 franchise in that it will feature Contest Mode, a modifier typically reserved for Raids. Essentially, Contest Mode changes the rules a bit on the activity, making enemies more aggressive, removes character Power advantages, adds ressurection tokens, and also adds a limit to certain encounters. Bungie plans to keep it active for 48 hours and those that finish it will earn rewards like an emblem as well as the special Dungeon exotic.

However, Contest Mode isn’t the only announcement Bungie had planned for Vesper’s Host. Taking inspiration from previous Destiny 2 Raid Races, Bungie is also hosting a Dungeon Raid race to see which fireteams can cross the line first. For Vesper’s Host, the first three fireteams to wrap the dungeon will be declared winners and earn special rewards. Players will need to be at 1985 Power to participate, have one member of the fireteam with a Final Shape dungeon key, and make sure to have the quest called Rogue Network active. For the Dungeon finish to count, all fireteam members must loot the final chest.

While many fans will no doubt be thrilled at a new dungeon to experience and exotic to acquire, Vesper’s Hold won’t be added to the weekly rotation anytime soon. Recently, Bungie announced that the Weekly Dungeon and Raid rotator in Destiny 2 is seeing improvements, adding 2 for each, not only cutting down on the time it takes to cycle through all 8 options, but gives players more opportunity to farm the gear they want. In addition, Warlord’s Ruin is also being added to the rotation, offering players a much easier way to farm for weapons like Buried Bloodline and Indebted Kindness.
