Over time, Diablo has shown various logical schemes, all with one purpose: to push forward his master’s (Rimuru) agenda to the best of his abilities. With power, intricate logical schemes, and a fierce loyalty to Rimuru Tempest, Diablo intends to safeguard the Jura Tempest Federation while he safeguards his master. This character in That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime might not always take the spotlight, but he’s always working in the background to make sure everything his master wishes is fulfilled.
Diablo’s Mysterious Origins
From Pursuing Power To Personal Amusement
Diablo’s true origins date back to the beginning of the world. As Primordials, Noir, now known as Diablo, and the rest of his counterparts were formed as an effect of the creator God, Veldanava, creating the Seven Angels of Origin. To balance out these creatures created from the great Holy Spirit of light, seven Primordials created from the Great Holy Spirit of darkness came into existence. These creatures were so powerful, they ruled the Daemon realm.
While two Primordials submitted to Rouge, the most powerful of the seven, Diablo, on the other hand, never submitted to Rouge, and when they battled, it resulted in a tie, showing just how powerful Diablo is. Unlike the other Primordials, Diablo didn’t chase after strength as he became bored quickly and instead lived as he wanted, delving into human societies with various tricks and machinations for his personal amusement.
After his creation and his battle with Rouge, little is known about how Diablo lived his life in the early ages. However, fans and characters alike have been shown that the knowledge this ancient demon possesses is enough to topple kingdoms.
Diablo’s Rise In Power
From Noir To Diablo
Diablo’s rise in power doesn’t contain earth-shattering stories or grand adventures, as he was born powerful. While he stopped pursuing strength long ago, when he fought with Rouge, the first Primordial, he managed to tie, earning the ancient demon’s respect. Before being granted the name Diablo by Rimuru, Noir was already one of the most feared creatures in existence. This makes fans wonder just how much more powerful he’s become since getting named, and by a true demon lord, no less.
In terms of abilities, Diablo stands as the strongest of all Rimuru’s subordinates, so gaining more and more strength is insufficient to truly portray his rise in power. Diablo’s true rise in power isn’t about strength, but about the influence he’s been able to garner while working as a subject of Rimuru. Under normal circumstances, Primordials do not get too involved in the world’s happenings and only do certain things to cure boredom. This is particularly seen with how characters like Guy Crimson care so much about maintaining the world’s power balance. However, after he was named and brought into the limelight, Diablo’s influence began to spread rapidly as the powerful subject of the ruler of the Jura Tempest Federation.
The Depth Of Diablo’s Loyalty
Diablo Serves As More Than A Subordinate
From when he became summoned and named by Rimuru Tempest, Diablo’s unwavering loyalty to his ruler knows no bounds, which forms an intriguing aspect of the series. After all, why would an all-powerful Primordial, simply and forcefully make his way into becoming the subordinate of another?
Rimuru never actually intended to summon Diablo or a Primordial. Interestingly, Diablo was the one who forcefully answered Rimuru’s summons for a greater demon. From before he was summoned, Diablo had gained an interest in the upcoming slime through Shizu Sensei. In the past, she caught Diablo’s attention by repelling him with her anti-magic mask. Later on, that same intriguing mask broke when it came into contact with Rimuru’s power. Seeing interesting occurrences unfold before his eyes, Diablo came to the conclusion that Rimuru is a ticket to the “truth of the world,” and silently pledged his allegiance ever since, even before getting summoned.
When it comes to fulfilling Rimuru’s demands, Diablo would do anything and everything possible to ensure his master’s wishes are carried out. His devotion lay absolute and was not borne out of gratitude or respect for his strength like his other subordinates. His loyalty was born out of instantaneous reverence, and faith in Rimuru’s potential and character. Diablo had no need to serve anyone, but he believed Rimuru more than deserved his allegiance. In a way, this makes Diablo possibly Rimuru’s most loyal servant.
Strategic Maneuverings
How Diablo’s Cunning Secures Jura Tempest’s Future
To show Diablo’s unexplainable-like devotion, the ancient Primordial doesn’t just obey his master to the latter, but also continually acts on strategic plans to further his master’s goals. In making the Kingdom of Falmuth submit to Rimuru, Diablo proved a necessary asset. His shrewdness, tactics, and overall method in making the country of Falmuth submit were extraordinary. He didn’t simply destroy them as many would’ve expected but used his overwhelming power in a strategic political way.
Conquering the Kingdom of Falmuth behind the scenes is certainly impressive, but getting more Primordials, beings on the same level as him, to serve Rimuru, is simply unfathomable. To show his intense devotion, Diablo recruited hundreds of daemons to his master’s cause and created the Black Numbers, the Jura Tempest Federation trump card army. Consisting of four Primordials, the strength of this army can be called the strongest in the world. Why Diablo would go to such lengths for his master is unfathomable, but by getting three other Primordials to serve his master’s cause, his unwavering loyalty is more than commendable.
Diablo’s tactical brilliance is one of the core reasons why Rimuru has achieved so much, so fast. The slime is very brilliant with a knack for leadership, but in terms of tactical brilliance, he loses out to the Primordial demon, who has lived for thousands of years. Serving as a demon with more than just brawn, Diablo’s intellect has proved necessary in expanding the influence of the Jura Tempest Federation and solidifying Rimuru’s place as one of the most powerful beings in the world. His ability to foresee future events, and take care of trouble before it springs up is uncanny.
Moreover, rather than continually threatening individuals into obedience, a tactic he employed with the Kingdom of Falmuth, Diablo knows when to use diplomacy, as seen in his encounter with the reporters present at the Kingdom of Falmuth’s subjugation. Simply coercing the reporters might have succeeded, but saving their lives, allowing them to witness the true evil of the Kingdom of Falmuth, and then proclaiming himself as a loyal follower of Rimuru Tempest, a monster that wants to ally with humans, worked much more. In this way, Diablo portrayed himself as a ‘lovely’ demon that only wanted to pursue peace with humans, which in turn says a lot about his liege.
The Strength Of Trust: Rimuru And Diablo’s Bond
How Diablo’s Loyalty Shapes His Actions
Diablo’s effect on Rimuru and the Jura Tempest Federation at large is positive. With his extraordinary abilities and tactical shrewdness, the Primordial demon is capable of accomplishing a whole lot of things. With him by Rimuru’s side, Rimuru is expected to have a trump card in various situations, and as Rimuru grows in power, Diablo is expected to be right beside him. Diablo betraying Rimuru is an act that few can imagine; however, with the 70th episode of the That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime series, the Elf Queen, Elmesia El-Ruivell, seems to believe it’s a possibility.
Thankfully, Rimuru has personally stated that if the Primordial demon ever goes out of control, he’ll be there to stop him and will personally take responsibility. Due to his master’s immense trust in him, Diablo was satisfied with such an answer. The relationship between master and servant seemed to happen instantaneously, but this bond has been solidified with immense trust between both parties. With logic and loyalty at his behest, Diablo is expected to do the very best for his master.
