‘Squid Game’ Season 2 teaser hints at new deadly games
Netflix has dropped its first teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated second season of Squid Game, reuniting us with Emmy-winner Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun — or Player 456 to the creators of the perilous titular survival game.
Season 2 will see our triumphant, haunted winner returning to the bloody arena three years later, one of a new batch of participants dying to win that life-changing cash prize. And in the 45-second teaser, we see Gi-hun not only back in his green jumpsuit, but a scene in which he’s holding a gun at the game’s masked overseer Front Man (Lee Byung-hun).
Aside from the return of the pink-jump suited guards, we don’t get much of an idea of exactly which deadly games are planned for the participants this time —only flashes. There’s a moment involving a disco-lit room and an overhead shot of a bare rectangular arena with a large tree at one end. And in the final frames, it looks like the competitors will be separated into two groups, encircled by rainbows on the floor. What on Earth are we in for?
Squid Game Season 2 will premiere on Netflix Dec. 26.
